Experienced growers, what have you noticed, does the trich come in waves, or all at once? Please, looking for answers,

they sprout like little mushrooms i suppose its in waves, to be honest i have no idea. they are pretty cool tho when you look under a microscope.

Not sure what you mean by all at once. They produce gradually as flowering progresses. At maturity there will be max trichs. Some seem to think they go go from clear to cloudy to amber all at once. But there are new trichs being produced right up to the end. That's why when you examine them under magnification, you will always see some clear and what you are looking for is the ratio.

Riddleme is correct, trichomes are essentially a protective measure for the plants. And something as important as that won't be produced just once, in fact they gradually get produced over time. The flowering cycle only lasts for a certain amount of time so that's why you hear growers talk about that optimum time for harvest.

Thanks for the responses. I know at a certain point trichs appear in flowering, I wasn't sure if they keep producing under the right evirmental conditions. I thought it had something to do with protection from dryness and uv rays. How many watts of uv ray is thought to make a differnce. I working with a 4 by 4 plot under a 400w hps, although I can change it to MH if that would give me a better uv light range. I know Metal Halides put out some uv ray just not sure how much. On the other side of it, I've been running about 45 to 40 rl humidity, thinking of getting a dehuimifier, I would think it would be better for trich production at a lower realitive humidity? Say around 20 to 30?

not just any lizard light..the ones that dont generate much heat is what u want and u can almost touch ur buds with the light..i grew with 3 or 4 uvbs my last grow..i started with 2 hours a day worked it up gradually to 12 hours a day..i used it during veg toYou can just add a lizard light but be careful they have to be a lot farther away and only on for like an hour a day
My humidity is at 33%

here's a pic of my uvbs..i had clamps and just clamped them on to my hps..i also had 2 uvbs in lamps and just put them at the bottom for the bottom part of the plant

u can see all the uvbs better in this video..i used uvbs and cfls for side lighting and uvbs for trichome production and i put 2pics up of some of the finished product http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62745voL06g

uvb also makes ur plant use its nitrogen faster so it helps during veg 4sure..ur plants could probably handle more nutrients to but to much uvb and ur leafs will yellow so be careful not to use it to much in veg
