Trichome Chart, When to Harvest

In USA, you can buy a 10X LIGHTED microscope for $11.00 at Radio Shack, and it is just perfect to look at the trichomes with.
To update, Radio Shack has a lighted 60x-100x pocket microscope for $12.49, available in most RS stores. I bought one the other day, and it works fine. (The hard part is getting a crosswise view of the leaf surface - still workin' on that....)

The Radio Shack model uses a small incandescent bulb; the newer model ("200"), which you can find online, uses an LED bulb. I've found the Radio Shack model to be sufficient -- it uses 2 AAA batteries. Some of the newer ones use 3 button-cells, which will end up costing you more over time.

and that's bs anyways. You can look around on your plant with magnification and find clear cloudy and amber trichs throughout the whole flowering phase. Looking at trichs to judge harvest time is not the correct way. Imo
hi fdd2blk id like your advice as iv read a few posts and thread of yours on my two plants bigbang and mama mia you gave me a estimate on your thread about when they are ready to harvest but just as u said thrics are different colours all round my plant the lower branch trichs tend to be clear my magnifying loupe came but they sent me 14x instead of 20x magnification it still not bad
this pic is off a side bud of bigbang from greenhouseView attachment 1045502

Fellows, over the years I've just come to know the look of a ripe plant.

I have a scope and a loupe and they just sit there these days and collect dust.

After seeing so many plants from start to finish, you come to the point where you just know.

i'm curious fdd. i've got a scope and have taken some pics similar to the ones you displayed and like you said it kinda depends where i look. i see patches of amber and then there are big patches of clear trichs as well. can you tell me what your method for determining harvest is? thanks!

i don't use a scope. i judge ripeness by watching and looking at the whole plant. they change in appearance when they are finished. if you aren't sure if it's done then it's not done. ;)
