Trichome Confusion

Hey guys another question. This has been my first time looking at trichomes with a digital pocket microscope.
This is an autoflower strain that came in a mix pack so its 1 of about 8 different varieties all having a breeder harvesting range from 7-12wks. I'm on day 49 from seed and decided to check the plant out more closely to get an idea about what to look for. I'm seeing about 60%clear, 30%milky and 10%amber--if I had to guesstimate and put numbers to it. Question is the plant still has tons of white pistils that haven't curled in--more white than orange/red/brown. I thought the majority of the trichomes also would go milky first then amber, is this correct?. The plant is a hybrid I know for sure so I wanted to go somewhat half and half head/body high..I'm confused about the way the plant looks versus what the trichs are telling me. I tried getting a clear picture with my camera and you can see the amber trichomes if you look closely enough around the middle section of the pic..

I'd leave it until your mostly cloudy with 30 % or so amber clear trichs are ripening THC glands and whilst TASTY u say your after that body stone so letting the THC mature and degrade somewhat will give you balance along with other terps and flavs coming through ;)

Happy growing bud

Much appreciated. Do trichomes ripen after you've cut the plant down? Basically do I wait until I see exactly when 30% are amber or would I cut sooner bc they will ripe to 30%...hope that makes sense

Yes as the plant drys some THC will degrade to CBN ;) so if your seeing 20 +% amber with cloudy trichs you'll prob end up closer to the 30 mark with a slow cool drying curing process ;)

Remember to look more at trichomes on calyxes than leaves or do a good examination of both. I find on some strains trichomes on leaves will be 100% amber while on calyxes almost no amber

In that instance I'm guessing I would go based on the trichomes on the calyxes versus the leaves?

much appreciated..
The waiting is hard but youll regret it if you harvest early. Id rather harvest a week late than a week early, a good rule of thumb i read somewhere was to always wait one week after you think your plant is ready. I always do that if im getting too excited to harvest or something about a strain makes me a bit unsure. It definitely wouldve done me a lot of good in my first few grows

Yea being impatient is how I screwed my 1st grow up. This is the 1st time I've actually grown with some good genetics so I'm asking every question possible and monitoring every detail as to not screw this one up. I'm also in no hurry this time as I just plan on jarring it all up for awhile so that helps with patience

Patience is the one thing we all struggle with, nothing harder than watching it grow n licking ur lips, it is all worth the wait, its funny ( and devastating when something that looks n smells so dam good can be reduced to ditch weed if we don't respect the process

True indeed..months of growing destroyed by days of incompetence
