Trichome maturity

Hey Folks,

I'm still tuning in my ability to distinguish between the stages of trichome growth. I'm curious what people think of the attached pic.
Are the trichs on this plant about 50/50 : clear/cloudy. I also see a few that look like they are hinting at becoming amber.
Plant is still two calendar weeks away from harvest, the pistils are still 90% white, and I'm in no rush, just looking to refine my judgement.

FYI plant is a Dinafem Auto White Widow... if that makes a difference :)

Hard to tell withput a loupe, or microscope. To be honest IMO checking trichs is futile. I did it the first few times as i thought it was only way to tell when finished. One problem is ive seen quite a few strains that really wont amber up. Ive gotten to the point where i just take everything to 10 weeks unless it obviously needs to come down sooner. I find watching the pistils receding and turning orange/brown and bud swell as more efficient way of knowing when to harvest. Bud looks nice and coated in trichs though!

Ok, thanks for the input. The breeder statement for the auto is 75 days/ approx 10 weeks, we'll see if that'll do'er :)

It looks good but I think your calendar is probably right. I use different ways at the same time to determine when it's ready to harvest. Trichs, pistils, density, and an overall "look".

And it's partly what you want too.

Cool pic. They look mostly cloudy to me and I don't see any amber myself. Checking the trichs seems to be one of those things that's a major PITA. I can't hold the loupe steady and it moves the opposite way and wtf. Plus your tops might be ready while the bottoms aren't. Just throwing in my cents. In my couple grows I noticed it seems when the white pistols recede that is look less plump the trichs are coincidentally going red. @Trich_holmes, I'm wondering if the pistols still do that on strains that don't go amber?

Good question. I would assume the pistils would still "die" but will to keep in mind next time i see one.
