I am a first time grower. I have some regular bagseed that i planted..i vegged the plant 3 weeks and switched to 12/12 on aug30th..about 23 days later..My question is does all cannabis produce visible crystals or trichomes (even the weaker strains which i prob have)..ive seen many pics with crystals all over some plants but i just have white hairs on mine..i do realize im only a little over 3 weeks into flowering but is there a general description of what to expect as far as the crystals or trichomes go b/c so far my plants dont have any.....just wondering and thanks for any input

Some strains are not so frosty. Give it some time and get a micro to see them. I have about ready to harvest, and not like what you are envisioning.

still pretty early for a lot of trich development.. some strains are less "frosty" than others. usually the really "frosty" plants start early so that's why you prob seen pics of buds @ 3 weeks with trichomes. Post up a pic!

thanks for all the input...ive had several problems so far its kinda even surprising they are alive...its an indoor closet grow and where i live the heat gets to 100 degrees plus..its been around 90 degrees average in my room..i also have very alkaline water..tap is 8.5...i just ordered some ph down bc i checked the runoff after adding nutes(dynaGro Bloom) w/a digital ph meter and it was 7.3..my bigger fan leaves have started to turn yellow..i flushed a few days ago but water is so alkaline i have no idea if they are gonna make it by the time i get the ph down..its odd though b/c half the plant looks decent and there is still bud or white hair growth rather, and the rest of plant looks likes its just suffering :-/.....gotta make mistakes to learn i guess...

Be patient, it sounds like you are right on track. I grow fast-maturing indicas and rarely see any frost before the third week at 12/12. You can actually feel the first tris before they become visible. The top buds will start to get a rough, sandpaper-like feel. That's the tris growing out from the leaves. Watch the pistils - they show up a week or 2 before the tris do. By the time the first pistils start to darken you should have tris started or very nearly so. Good luck, BigSteve.
