Trichomes or Mold spores?

So I was burping the jars last night, and noticed a kind of ammonia smell, I didn't see anything that looked off on the buds with the naked eye, but when I looked with my loupe I saw these, I don't think they are trichs, the stems are a lot slimmer, and the heads are white that looks almost like cotton....definitely mold right?

damn i had this once ..
its not botrytis another specy .. not sure
leave the buds intact but its fully infected
the buds were a nutrient locked plant .. not smokable
they were pretty dry but i put them in a bag and this shit popped .. i saw it by naked eye and in microscope was the same
and idk if its linked to the nutrient locked in the buds .. never saw it on good buds

snow balls ? its the species name ?

I've had that smell in old buds. Didn't look at them with magnification, but did wash it all in straight 3% H2O2. Most was smokable, and made oil with the rest.

The plants hung for almost a week and were bone dry, the branches were snapping, they have been in jars for at least 2 weeks and I just noticed this yesterday. It wasn't a huge loss, it was only one jar about half an oz. I left the jar open over night and they feel completely dry again, but the ammonia smell is still there, my next question is, and it might be kind of dumb, but since its just tiny spores like that, is it still safe to smoke or should i just toss? It's only visible under the loupe. and it doesn't look hairy like alot of people say mold looks like.

You jarred too early and got mold - happens a lot here :-)

Did you jar long buds with a lot of stem? I made that mistake on my first batch a few years ago using the big jars with big indica buds. No mold, just didn't smell great. That hay smell. Once I cut the buds down smaller and got rid of all the excess stem, it started smelling better the next day.

Your logic suggest the stems cause bad weed - not a chance in hell this is correct or all my bud be funked :-)

Forget jarring bud and learn only to dry - See what happens after it dries, does that taste and flavour start to develop without enclosing it in glass....

T:-)

No, not bad weed. My excess stem I left on were still holding too much moisture and affected the smell. I prob should of dried longer
