Trichrome Question on 100% purple strains

I'm growing a purple diesel strain. !00% purple pheno . The problem I had on my last grow was , I couldn't tell when it was finished. At day 42 I was checking trichromes. All i was seeing was clear , semi purple and full purple. I didn't see any cloudy or amber. Is this normal? Anyone grown purple strains had this problem ? I don't know if I should treat cloudy and amber as semi purple ,full purple. Also i've never seen a plant finish in 42 days. the reason I pulled at 42 days is because I could see a few trichrome heads "collapsing or deteriorating. I believe I pulled it a bit early but hard to tell !

These are two pictures from last crop.

IMO you pulled it too early, the fastest flowering non auto MJ plant I have seen was 52 days flowering in soil (Cole train, rare pheno). The damaged trichomes may have been caused by touching the plants, or pressing a microscope up to them.

I am on day 44 of a GDP grow and my buds have purple everywhere also. When I check the trichomes I am getting mostly milky and some clear. I did see a few that were amber and the heads have fallen off but I suspect these were the first ones to grow during the flower period. If you start to see quite a few with their heads falling off about 15-20% then I would cut them down but a few is no worry.

I really think that mine even at 44 days could be cut down but I want to wait at least until I hit 55 days as I am using co2 and from my experience the buds put on a lot of weight in that last week of flower. Some expert growers pull plants early also to get more of that head high as when you let them go late you get more of a body couch lock high.

I honestly couldn't tell ! The collective I got it from said it would be done 6-8 weeks and everyone I have talked to has never even heard of a 42 finish time so maybe I did pull too early , it was just crazy because the hairs were like 70 amber at day 42. The 2nd picture I took was of a lower branch too !

In my opinion the hairs are a bad indicator of when to pull something. In one of my flowering rooms I use 2 400W CMH bulbs, and they seem to always turn the hairs from white to another color FASTER than the plants in my 600W hps flowering room.

What did you yield off of the plant pulled early?

Yeah as you seen in my journal a lot of the hairs were orange also but yeah Bargar is right about that. Usually they say if you think their done wait a week or two! lol

While most strains will follow the conventional clear - cloudy/milky - amber trichome color progression, not all will.

If you have colored trichomes from the start they will be a colored, but clear, like looking through a tinted window. In cases like that when they cloud it is the same as if a clear trichome turned cloudy/milky and if they turn a darker more solid color, that is like amber, so as soon as you see a few of them, no more than about 5%, it's time to harvest.
