Trim a little off the top?

Hey there peoples,
I'm doing an indoor closet grow for the first time and I have a few questions. Here's my current spec's : I have 4 clones from a buddy that I rooted (1 Mikado, 1 Shiva, 1 N.L.#5, and 1 Grunk [grape x skunk]) and three baby grapefruits that I started from seed (feminized). The clones are all about 10" now in 1 gallon pots and the grapefruits are 3" in dixie cups. The grapefruits are still baby's but the clones are coming along nicely. Not too bushy though. All are under a 125watt full spectrum compact fluorescent 24/7. I'm letting them do thier thing for now but once the grapefruits establist themselves better I want to veg. them for a few weeks and bush them out. Now the questions:
1. Should I top the clones or bend them and tie them down?
2. As far as veg'ing is concerned, I have a 400watt xtrasun ballast and a h.p.s bulb. Can I use that to veg or do I really need the m.h?
I would appreciate any and all advice. I'm sure there will be many more questions to come.

the 400 watt bulb is plenty for veg. but if you introduced the mh during flowering you will be very please with the result. as for bending or topping, it all depends on what you want. if you want to keep them short and bushy with multiple bud sites than top them. if you want them to grow sideways with one main bud the bend them. i suggest topping for your particular case. good strain selection by the way

Thank you mr. 757, I'm going to give them a little trim this afternoon. I was alsso thinking of tryinhg to root the tops and make more clones. My question about veg'ing was if I could get away with using the h.p.s instead of m.h.? The guy at the hydro store said I could but I want the girls to busy out first.
