Trim leaves on new plants?

I was reading one of my books and it says for a new plant to cut one leaf off one side then cut the alternate side on the second set of leaves and then to cut the top 3 sets of leaves once you have the 4th set? It says this helps create a stronger stem for later growth but I can't find anywhere else to support this method. I was just wondering if anyone here does this? Thanks in advance.

Remove the parts off of a young plant that produces its energy to grow? No.

Just make sure there is good air movement and the stems strengthen themselves. It's illogical to think that by removing leaves you'd make the plant stronger. If anything, it would likely just stretch taller trying to get closer to the light, thereby making it weaker if anything.

I'm assuming you are a new grower. Here is my advice - stick to the basics and get good at growing healthy plants. At the same time, do a lot of research. Once you have mastered the basics and done a ton of research; then, and only then, you can start experimenting with some of these "fancy" techniques.

What ever happened to "Learn to walk before you run"?

Yes I am new and yes I've been researching for about 20 yrs off and on so now its time to give it a go. I was just wondering if the author was some kind of crackpot or does something like this really exist. And yes I do want to become a masters master at this that's why RIU is an important part of my resources. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
