Triming leafs...

I got some less the perfect leafs and was wondering about cutting the bad ends off. I seen clones with the leafs sniped but not sure if it will be ok with a seedling. This is my plant on day 14 from a seed.

when you see clones with cut in half leaves, its so they can root better. those things look rooted already, so unless the whole leaf is a total loss just leave it and try to fix what caused it.

Them were the first set but the others look good to me so far. Thanks for the reply.

i usually remove any dead leaf matter as soon as i can. i dont remove the whole leaf unless almost all of it is damaged. otherwise i just clip the brown part off the end. i do this for several reasons. i read if you leave dead leaf matter on a plant, the plant wastes energy trying to revive it. also im in soil and you dont want dead leaf matter in soil. it's what fungus gnats like and can attract them. they can damage roots. also my tent is crowded and the foliage is fighting for light. even if its just removing a little bit, its helping the rest of the plants get more light. also it makes cleanup days much easier. not as much shit on the ground. i like to try and be sanitary.

Yes you can, go to the edit screen and then hit go advanced, your thread title will be in there, just find it and change it to what you want. The reason people cut the ends of leaves off on clones sometimes is so their is less plant matter for the plant to have to take care with its non-existent root system, i dont cut the dead ends off. if i cant pull it off with a gentle tug the leaf is ready, otherwise the plant is still taking what it wants from them and cutting them would make their death even more of a bad thing. I dont ever have no problems from leaving them till the plant itself is ready to get rid of them, these plants know what they are doing when it comes to this sort of stuff. let her be the one to decide when she's ready to drop em.

thats what i thought u meant thats the way i do it too put u can already kind of tell when u look at it that its ready

i also remove any leaves if the stems break with a light tug. anytime part of a leaf turns brown though, it won't turn back to green. so i cut it. only if it's a significant spot though. i dont waste time cutting off little burnt leaf tips or real small spots. when part of a leaf is dead, that dead part is no longer receiving light nor are the stomata any longer active. it's kinda like when you have a scab over a wound that is ready to come off. removing it may make virtually no difference in plant health or growth, but it does look nicer. or kinda like when a hatching chick is having trouble getting out of the egg, just giving it a little help.
