Trimming for hash

I am about to harvest my first round of plants, Want to save tirm for hash and butter.
Do I save all leaves or just sugar leaves and do I separate the fan leaves from the rest or put them all together. I also have some sugar leaves that are burned from the lights and pretty crisp. Can I use them or trash them?

You can use everything, I usually try to keep the good trim seperate from the fan leaves because you will get better quality hash from the good trim. But also make hash with the fan leaves too, it will just be lower quality, I'm not one to waste hash even if it's not top notch. I'd still use the crispy leaves also. You doing bubble bags? I agree but, I throw away the sun/fan leaves. Anything with trichomes goes into the hash pile, I dry them with the bud and then make it. Sometimes I will wait until my bud is dry to trim, by then I would have removed all the sun leaves so everything goes into hash pile.

Then I have one batch and one quality - AWESOME.

Thanks guys, and yes I'm doing bubble hash. I would guess that the better quality hash would get filtered through to the finer bags, correct?

Is there anyway I can use the least quality hash to make edibles or is it too sticky and won't dissolve in anything?

Also, I read about a guy who recycles his wet remains from the bubble hash and makes cannibutter. What do you think about that??

The hash is for commecial sale but the butter will just be used for personal use and friends.

im no expert in hash making but id say if your giong to use the bubblemethod with ur kiefed up leaves, then just take the rest of the leaves, stems, and watever else you consider undesirable, and use a sovlent method to extract the THC out and make hash oil...cheap and easy...just go get 93% isopropynol alcohool...id say get at least a quart...depending on how much shit you have...
i berak all my stalks, stems, fan leaves up into smaller peices, put it in a cooking pot, fill that pot up with the isopropynol, and cover taht bitch air tight and let it soak for as long as possible, i waited about a week last time... i also stirred it around every day...then use a strainer to remove the leaves, squeeze em all out real good to get every last bit...u shoudl have left a pot full of black alcohol, open a window and put that shit on medium low, and just keep it moving...you'll smell the alcohol boil off first, you'll smell it quite clearly, then the little bit of water that is in the isopropynol which shoudl be a couple ounces, that you can tell is boiling off because it will smell like clorophyl, basically wehn you stop smelling alcohol boiling off you know your getting close, so ya, let it simmer off a little more till the water is gone and all you'll have left is a tarry black oil at the bottom, it will smell like hash...you'll knwo...and then i just bottle that shit up in little minibottles...sell it off or smoke it

Yes the better quality hash will be in the finer thread bags, but do 2 seperate runs. 1 with the good trim and 1 with all the other trim. You will get a very pure bubble hash when using just the good quality hash, That's why I seperate my trimmings.

Seems like with the bags, the material itself (fan leaves, trim, bud, etc) doesn't matter considering the screens on the bubble-bag would filter the finer crystals regardless (more pure thc)

I always dry my fan leaves and good trim separate, but I end up mixing them together in the end anyway.


Depending on the amount you have, you could definitely use the watered leaf material (after the bag) to make butter and/or butane honey oil -- the bubble hash method just knocks off the trichomes where as the BHO/butter extracts the essential oils.

Hash is perfect for cooking because it dissolves completely and you don't have to filter out the leftover material.

i took prolly like 4 ounces of scraps, and used like 4 sticks of butter and it was def not as strong as id like...id say this, it prolly isnt going to taste good, so the stronger the better...id rather make honey oil and cook with that than make butter cuz the butter i made was green and pretty nasty... use a solvent method, described earlier to extract the essential oils out of the scrap material you cant do anything with...any solvent works, assuming its of high concentration, ive successfully made like 4 grams of hash oil off of the scraps of likke 4 plants, so i figure u'll get a gram per plant ish, depending on size and what not...but ya, id recommend seperating out the leaves you have which have trichomes, get the trichomes off, and then extract the remaining oils after... THC is NOT soluble in water, thus if you use a blender method, using ice cold water to get the trichomes off all of your plant scuff, then take take that scuff after you've removed the trichomes, you can then put that same material into a solvent, (93% isopropyl alcohol, butane), and extract the remaning oils and make hash oil; essentailly is the same process as making cannabutter but a lil different...if you don't know how to do a solvent extraction, id check out some youtube videos thats how i learned but it really isnt difficult

That's a great idea. I was worried about the taste of the butter. I've heard it can be nasty. How much hash oil would you add to a pound of butter?

I've made butter with trim I used to make Gumby hash with, it went from the bucket right into the sauce pot. lol I used probably 2 gallons of used trim and a pound of butter, cut the butter up into three pieces and used each piece for a batch of brownies. At that strength, cutting the pan into 16, half a brownie gets me high as hell, for about 6 hours or more. The taste isn't bad either - just a faint weed taste to the brownie.

i mean the last time i made butter, i didnt make hash oil, i just made the butter from my scraps...ive made hash oil as well but i just smoked that cuz it was only like a few ounces/grams...you could def cook with it tho, prolly make bangin butter, u woudlnt need a pound, just watever ur food called for...i figure if ur gonna go through the trouble to make hash oil might as well just smoke it...drip it on top of some buds... the butter absorbs the thc, either by boiling it up with some plant scuff or if youu just put ground up weed in a pan with butter...if it was high quality plants, and you had some good scuff, you could prolly do 2 oz to every stick of butter; but honestly i dunno how much butter you really need to absorb the thc, it prolly woudlnt need that much so like maybe you could do even more scuff to butter ratio...i bet hash oil would make some bangin tasting butter tho... better to have high quality butter, cuz if it tastes bad and if isnt strong enough, it sucks eating a shit load of awful brownies
