Trimming harvest ready buds while still in ground pre-dry

Hope the title made sense.. I plan to pull my two outdoor plants from a 16 gallon pot next week and decided to not only pull the remaining yellowish fan leaves off, but manicure the buds before I cut the branches off to hang and dry. It seems to be an easier way to manage, but in doing it this way and leaving the manicured buds on the living plant for 3-5 days before I cut it all down, am I messing anything up? I only did 1/3 of the plant last night..(see picture).

Also, is it a bad idea to spray the plant with some water to rinse off any impurities prior to cutting the plant down, or will that mess up the THC content.

Any advice is welcome.IMG-20110924-00046.jpg

I'll be interested to see people's take on this. I'm pondering the same thing. I wouldn't think it'd be too big an issue b/c your not looking for more growth, just to pre-dry the nugs...

Well the sugar leaves on the plant are pretty valued, Im going to be keeping mine for kief and hash. But I dont see why you couldnt do it if you plan on harvesting soon, and dont want the sugar leaves.

It looks like you trimmed alittle early. Other than that it shouldn't be a problem.

It won't mess up the THC content, but it will take them longer to dry.
