Trimming leaves to allow more light

My dilemma: 10 white widows each about 24" tall, 2 1000w HPS in line. The room is about 5 X 12. I'm in the 3rd week of flowering. The leaves were shading out so much space to the lower branches, I trimmed the leaves significantly, and cut out a lot of lower branches to thin the plants out. Will this hamper the bud growth or will it promote more for the fewer colas? Or did I make a serious mistake???

This is my 2nd garden. Here's some photos.

im sick to death of answering this question
This is his thread. he wouldn't have asked it if he didnt want an answer directly concerning his question. Will, next time there is a post that you would not like to answer, please just refrain from posting at all instead of taking the time to write how tired you are from answering these questions. To answer you 1969, you can expect better airflow and more light getting to your lower colas, resulting in bigger buds. This is a common practice amongst growers.

this site has a search function...and a growfaq for redundant questions. somebody starts a thread EVERY day on this topic

thats the problem with people these days, they want everything spoonfed to them. i help alot of people here, but you have to want to help yourself first.

and this - "To answer you 1969, you can expect better airflow and more light getting to your lower colas, resulting in bigger buds. This is a common practice amongst growers." - is bad advise.

i linked to a thread where both sides argued valiently, many good points were made but as always the trimmers were priven wrong. read it, you might learn something. or go on growing inferior weed.

I did do the search and I actually found that thread before I posted mine. I was hoping to hear from someone that may have tried it both ways and noticed a significant difference. I guess i'll just have to find that out for myself.

if you read the thread in detail you would have goten that info.

i have done it both ways. hell, i used to believe trimming was benificial. i also used to think leaves yellow and drop in flowering was normal. i have stopped trimming and added N to my flowering formula, i drop no more leaves, trim no more leaves, and i have buds bigger than i did before.

1969 - forgive me for being short but we really do get this question every day. and i could ignore it like the two other posters advised me to, but im here to help people grow better weed and that means guiding people in the right direction. i wish you the best of luck, if you have trouble and cant find an answer let me know.

To the two other posters - give my way a try, if it doesnt work then never do it again.

OK I understand....I'm new here and that was my first thread. Next time I wont trim em up like that and I'll see what I get. It seems like it would be better to have fewer plants to allow more space between them. I don't know about this SOG technique. i know there's a lot of posts on that technique too.

Hey Slik,
By looking at my pics, what do ya think? Do they look too thinned out. I took those pics a few days ago. in my 3rd week of 12/12

the two links at the bottom of every one of my posts. some people have quotes there, some have a silly disclaimer, some have links to thier grow journals. the top one is my main grow with Northern Lights and the lower one is my breeding journal.

and what have you done to help??
Now who's not using the search feature? A look into my post history would show that I offer my opinion, some advice, and some smartass quips.

No where near your 6,000 posts in 3 months, which obviously makes you King Helper around here.
