Trimming machines vs trimming wands

whats the difference if you hang your buds to dry, or trim them then let them dry in dry nets like I use? my dry times are still 5-7 days after running them thru the trimmer depending on the season, my buds always get a full jar cure as well. there is no difference in your way, or mine. but mine saves me days of work.

Lol yeah I would love to trim everything by hand, but when trying to do everything myself & not involving anyone else for security purposes/peace of mind I needed some help of some sort. Unrealistic to harvest 10+ 1 pound plants at once by myself. I do still trim certain strains by hand though.


Thanks everyone for posting! I ended up going with the machine I posted. It is very easy on the buds. As mentioned doesn't like huge nugs, but other than that with certain strains I can't even tell a difference between hand trimmed & it. Other strains I can tell a difference, but no one else has. Does a very good job & very easy on the flowers, some don't even need any trimming afterwards & once getting when to cure down/keeping proper humidity in the room, the product comes out just as good as it did when hang drying. Was def worth the $450 spent, already easily saved me 20-40 hours.

I have wondered about dry trimmers such as the "trimpal" the idea of that sort of scares me haha

I also like a SLOW dry so putting in wet nugs and chopping leaves right away ain't happening. I used multiple trimmers and none were up to par for ME. Everyone has a different opinion of quality. The best one was reallllly fucking stupid expensive and looked like a lathe.... Can't remember what it was called. But after 2 harvests I realized it just wasn't cutting it.

Granted I was using these machines about 3 years ago. I'm sure there have been improvements. Any way you could post some finished nugs with your new machine?

I spend WEEKS with the wife trimming sometimes. I'd LOVE helper, but just don't wanna sacrifice ANY quality. :)

I have dried both methods. And by far on the stem over 10-14 days is IMO leaps and bounds better in taste bud look and overall quality appeal. But that's my opinion. And I'm a very picky person.

I feel you on the slow dry, I am right there with you. With a humidistat controller I can get the dry to take about two weeks sometimes longer, sometimes a little less, but prefer 3-4 weeks like when I hand trim/hang.

The trimming wand might be good as you could trim on the plant whole and still hang it as a whole piece, have you looked into those? Idk tho, haven't used them. My trimmer doe sacrifice quality on certain strains (although not much at all and not noticeable to your average consumer) and other strains it does a better job than I do. I agree everyone has dif opinions on quality. I don't have a camera at the moment other wise I would :(

I agree for sure and a month is even better than that. With a humidistat controller I get most of mine to at least 14 days, sometimes more. Some of my blueberry is on day 17 of drying and when I jarred it up today it still had 73% moisture in it. Back to the drying racks they go. Once you get RH down and when to jar I don't really see a difference as far as taste/aroma goes. As far as quality, if you want to sacrifice nothing at all whatsoever then a trimming machine might not be the best idk, but Its barely noticeable at all and on some strains does as good of a job as me if not better. If you trim dry and press into the buds, that knocks off more trichs than the trimming machine in my experience. I'm just not willing to hire trimmers.
