Trimming mid dry

Has anybody tried drying with sugar leaves on, and then halfway through trim and then rehang to finish drying? Thought you might be able to slow down the dry a lil bit and hopefully avoid the drawbacks of dry trimming.

Also would it be okay to jar up nuggys when they are done drying without trimming, and then trim at will? Dunno if leaving the sugar leaves on for part of the cure and then removing them would mess with the cure.

Pretty sure your bud will have the worst smelling hay smell in the history of life as we know it.
You are way better off drying your nugs first and trimming at will. Let the drying process finish.
Better to even dry the bud, once dried throw into a sealed tub trim when ever you want then jar. Crack the tub occasionally.

I usually always wet trim. So last October outdoor harvest I flat out got tired of trimming after chop, that I just cut the fan leaves off the last few plants and hung to dry, jarred up everything and after a 3 month +- the buds I didn't trim till I took outta curing jars and just dry trimmed a few buds at a time. And without a doubt it has way more flavor and smoothness than any bud I wet trim, dry, and cure. So yea no trim till cured then as needed is a better way to go IMHO.

When thc is legalized federally, untrimmed bud will be very common. The lower price made possible by not trimming will move it quicker. Trimming was one of those black market things you did to have the very best product in town, competing against 3 other guys, back when ounces were close to a G.. It doesn't even make sense anymore.

I've tried a bunch of different methods to drying and trimming. What I've settled on is removeing all the fan leaves and either hanging the whole plant or usually I'll break down the buds but leave the small sugar leaves on. Then spread them on a drying screen, usually it takes about 7 days for them to be slightly crisp on the outside and almost dry inside. At that point I typically toss them in a paper bag for a couple days till the humidity balances out and I jar them or bag them up at which point I trim any sugar leaves that need to be. I've found this to provide an outstanding flavor without tons of fooling around. It takes some practice to figure out the humidity levels but once you learn what your doing it works every time.

it is definitely ok to jar the buds up with the sugar leaves still on them. Jarring buds with sugar leaves resulting in poor smelling bud is a myth (improper dry and cure is the root of that problem). I do it all the time. my lifestyle currently does not allow me much time to spend trimming everything at once. i just go ahead and cure them with the sugar leaves still intact, and then just trim bud when it's convenient for me. if you do it right, you won't be able to tell the difference. just watch the humidity, not too dry and not too moist. 60-65%. burp often. no issues.

Okay thanks for the input guys. I trimmed about a quarter of the crop after 3 days of hanging. Gonna trim as much as I can when the rest is ready to be jarred, and get to the rest soon after jarring.

It is ok to jar buds up untrimmed as long as they are done drying. Sometimes I harvest way more than I can trim in a timely manner. When this happens, I jar the bud up untrimmed. I make sure to burp the jar once or twice a day and ill trim as soon as I catch up to it. It has never had any ill effects.
