He asked about trimming, He should have asked about pruning..
They are 2 completely different things.
You could call it trimming but the majority of us refer to trimming as the part when you harvest and trim of excess leaf.

To answer your question. I personally do not prune or cut off any fan leaves, those leaves are there for a reason, think of em' as the powerplants for future buds. Instead of you starting to cut shiz off why don't you add side lighting, use cfls.

Anyways...if you're pruning, it can be a number of reasons. More light penetration being one, personally I do it so I'll have more than one top. You end up with 3 or 4 main colas instead of one!

how do you prune to end up with 3 or 4 colas?? i cut my plant at the third or fourth nod so ill end up with 2 colas but i did this during veggin
