Troubleshooting a new LED DIY build

no help what so ever but Cryptocurrency for the win!
Ha, yeah I hear ya, but I got rekt this weekend. 6 months of accumulating dbix down the drain. I tried to scalp a few more coins (it usually works fine for me) and right when I'm waiting for the btc tx to arrive at new location so I could rebuy dbix at a lower price, it started it's frigging pump. I've since watched it go from 65k to 190k in 3 days. Gutted to say the least. I had almost 500 dbix. I wouldn't get 125 if I tried to rebuy now. Gutted mate ha!

Good idea, I tried it, but no. Still doesn't come on. I hope I haven't been sent a faulty driver. Should that be making a noise when I turn it on? It's silent
Yeah you should know its on, I would check the connection again. You said there was a power supply? But the plug should be on the end of the driver, unless you've extended it.
If you still have no luck time to get a multimeter and test the driver. They don't cost much, cheaper than sending the driver back to china.

/?

There's definitely been no indication that it's come on at all. I guess they'd be a humming type noise.

Oops, not a power supply, just a power cord. Picture shows it attached to driver using wagosIMG_20171030_165010.jpg

My bad, my drivers don't hum either. Just checked.. So not a reliable method of knowing if the driver is working.
All I can suggest is check each of the connection and get a multimeter from wilko or somewhere tomorrow.

I guess one last question before I go buy a multi-meter.

Does it matter which of the openings I use when daisy chaining the cobs together? I may have some connected using the inside connector as shown in pic below), and some using the outside connector (can probably see it better in an earlier picture I posted)

Check that your positive and negative springs from the holder are corresponding to the positive and negative of the cobs themselves. My guess is you reversed one.
You sir have saved my day and a lot of further headaches! Thank you so much, yep, one of the cobs was in the wrong way around (don't I feel silly now).

As it stands, light and dimmer are both working. Thank you so much.

I've got (my first attempt) an AK Auto, Honeysuckle, and Icebreaker seedlings growing. They're all currently under 100w cob which I switched from a T5 last night. Each plant has 3 or 4 nodes.

Soon, I'll be moving the AK Auto and Honeysuckle into their own 2x2 space with 200W Cree cob, and will leave the Icebreaker under 100W Cree cob. I hope I've timed it right, but, I'm thinking I can harvest the AK Auto right before I start to scrog the Honeysuckle (around wk2 of flower).

No problem. You will enjoy the cobs I know I have! Glad to have helped

The girls are starting to burn again. I'm starting to hate the cobs as all they've done so far is burn.

Girls are at around 4 nodes each, and were 2.5 feet away from cob. Have now moved to 3ft away, the max I can in that grow space. I have another 2x2 which is a lot taller. I'm hanging the 200W cree in there tomorrow. With the cobs burning everything I'm not sure what to do now. I may run the 200W soft and hang it about 5ft above the plants and see how that goes.

How far are your cobs from your plants?

since you were willing to buy a multi-meter, or have some plexiglass, ruff it up with wet sanding, and use that as a shield till they adapt to the light. Just some outta the box ideas to help with the burning.

If you're growing in a 2x2 with the dimming wires capped (Full Power) you're probably running over 200+ watts of efficient LEDs in that small of an area putting you at 50+ w/sqft. I have 9 COBs in a 2x2 running at a total of around 155w. Before going through the hassle of switching tents and all that jazz, reconnect the potentiometer and try dimming them down first. There is a big difference between a T5 and COBs, think of it like moving a plant from a CFL to direct sunlight.

DOH!!!
Glad you got it sorted...

Yeah you can be at full flower with only 35w per square foot of cob so I would dim down for vegging little ones.

Glad you got the thing illuminated. Stick with them, they really do produce some fine produce.

The blackening on the top leaves isn't so bad right now, but, I literally just woke them up when i took this photo. The other photo shows burning/shrivelling on the same plant from when the seedlings were under a 50W cob. After the T5 switch-out they thrived. Then switching to 100W cob last night, I saw burned leaves when I checked on them right before their bedtime. They've been sleeping for 6hrs so perhaps that helped them recover from burn.

So far all growing has taken place in the shorter 2x2 space. It's just under 5ft in total. The taller space I'll start using soon. It's 8ft tall. I've created a seedling area in the bottom of around 2ft tall with the T5

Nutes: (All at half strength for now)
Advanced Nutrients micro/grow/bloom
H&G Roots Excelerator
Mammoth P

I also have and will be introducing liquid silicon and cal-mag later on
