New lights came today (2 more 125w duel spectrum CFL's) with 2 new hangers, got them from the same place as last time.. (basement lighting) and was a touch disapointed when i got the E40 hangers out the box and they we're completely different to the one i got from them 3 weeks ago, really cheap and nasty looking...
as i said previously i'd hang them at each end of the reflector hanging down, took ages to get them in the cabinet, snapped one of the E40 lamp hangers. i got the first bulb in about 1 turn and all the middle fell out! (told you cheap looking!) so had to make one from the old Hps lead i stripped off the reflector ... there is so much stuff in the cabinet now and its starting to make everything difficult (like trying to find a place for the thermometer so i could get a true ambient temperature with out reading conflicting heat signitures off the lamps)
after finally getting them in the cabinet and moving everything else to suit the new setup i switched them on. less then 2 minutes temperatures reached 90F (32c) and was still rising fast, which is ok to slow cook a cheap cut of meat ... but not what i'm looking for lol... to cut an all ready long story short i had to open all the closed off vent holes in the bulkhead, remove the mushroom (light blocking) cover from over the intake fan... and point the desktop fan inside the cabinet at the lights and switch it to cyclone! ... holding 75-78f (24-26c)
although it took ages to hang the new lights .... i'm not happy with the way they are, i'm wasting about 70% of the light as they are much more effcient hung horizontal... but i can't add another two lamps to my reflector so i have to make a new reflector to house 3 rather large lamps with next to no materials.... suggestions?
