Trump declares war on Venezuela

Trump issued an executive order yesterday, placing a full economic embargo on the Venezuelan government of President Nicolás Maduro, and his administration warned Russia and China that if they continue to support him, they will pay the consequences of doing so.

The embargo, which follows months of escalating sanctions on government individuals and entities, blocks all property and assets of the government and its officials, and prohibits any transactions with them, including the Venezuelan Central Bank and the state oil company.

The action puts Venezuela on par with Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria, the only other countries under a similar full embargo.

So, now the full force of the American Economic system is being brought to bear on a duly-elected Socialist government in South America, because it's social philosophy is anathema to American Capitalism.

Venezuela is struggling mightily right now without the added burden of economic sanctions, and it seems Trump's solution is to make things worse for Venezuelans and start a revolution.

Why can't we just stay the fuck of their shit and let them figure it out, instead of us forcing our will on them.

I thought that's why we had a revolution in 1776, because we were sick of foreign entities forcing their will on us.

Ha ha ha!

Venezuela's collapse began well before the US got involved. When Chavez was elected, Venezuela was already struggling with a high poverty rate despite being one of the top oil producing nations on earth.

After OPEC decided to support the FARC and embargo Israel in response to the Yom Kippur war, the world's biggest consumer of oil at the time, United States started meddling. In other words, world Communism started meddling with Venezuela before the US did.

When the US was their trading partner, they had high tech extraction equipment and refineries. Why haven't Russia and China supported their ally? Why should the United States enable a dictator who is corrupt and hates us?

It's true that the US has been imperialistic, but why do the other imperialistic powers get a free pass for enabling brutal dictators? Why does China prop up these fuckbags against the will of the citizenry of the countries that they rule? Since China props them up, why not do anything to ease the suffering there?

China meddles in Latin America more than the United States does.

Are you actually serious? Don't you ever call anyone else a useful idiot again, moron.

How many miliary bases does China have in Latin America? ZERO, which is a damn sight less than the American number, idiot.

America has habitually intervened throughout Latin America for over a century from the Dominican Republic to Argentina, often taking down successive governments in the same country.

Yes, Venezuela is being mismanaged. Since when does that give the United States any right to intervene? ...again?

Read some history before shooting off your mouth. You might start with General Smedley Butler's 'War is a Racket', written about his experiences as America's imperialist weapon in Latin America. Then pick up 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman', by John Perkins. You CAN read, can't you?

China's recent involvement is being welcomed precisely because of America's reprehensible record on the continent, stupid.
You don't even have a passport, you fucking Sandinista shit-for-brains. China props up any economy that is adversarial to the US. China is the number one business partner with Latin America. The BRI is far more extensive than anything the US has ever conceived of in Latin America. China has direct influence in more than half of the governments south of the US in the way of debt financing and infrastructure planning.

I have read Butler, he wrote that shit 84 years ago. Things have changed, ya dumb fucking trumptard. I said China meddles in Latin America far more than the US does and it is absolutely true today. You know exactly fuck all about Latin America. Go to any port in the Caribbean, you will see Chinese shipping, even in San Juan PR but that is the only one where there is more US than Chinese because IT IS THE US but you'll still see Chinese meddling, even there.

Go to DR, to any fishing ground and you'll see Chinese fishing boats. DR recently unrecognized Taiwan as a country at China's behest. An artificial reef structure that I helped build there was destroyed by Chinese trawlers.

Go to Colombia and head out into the jungle and get killed by farcs that are armed and funded by China.

Go to Costa Rica and see monuments and buildings donated by the CCP.

Go to Nicaragua and see that Ortega is president thanks to Chinese meddling.

Go to Panama and see the closed down former US naval base that is occupied by PLA ships guarding the canal built by the US and operated by the CCP.

There are only 4 Latin American countries with US bases. Honduras has an army base, Brazil has a navy base, Curacao (Netherlands) has an airbase and then there's Guantanamo. None of these have much influence on the economies surrounding them or on the politics.

Even one of Mexico's biggest commodities, meth, is now supplied almost entirely by precursor chemicals from China. You should quit smoking all that Chinese meth. Go learn about the MSS and how pervasive it is.

The US is operating 4 installations in all of Latin America and the total number of US military and intelligence personnel assigned to those installations number fewer than 500 total. These are not clandestine, secret facilities. The PLA has far more military resources in Latin America that we know about. Many people in all of these countries (I have been to almost all of the countries south of the US) will tell you there are more chinese residents in permanent ethnic enclaves in every single Latin American country than there are white people, which means gringos, not just Americanos.

Of course if your reading list is limited to the writers mentioned in post #7 of this thread, you should get something less than 15 years old. Actually that is when Perkins wrote his book, the events described are much older. The Chinese meddling is exactly like what he confesses to.

Nor should anyone assume what is welcome or unwelcome meddling if they're not citizens of the countries mentioned. Chinese ethnic enclaves have been conducting international organized crime in Latin America for centuries.

Read about the Onda Rosa too. Read about global trade. Read about China buying UN votes and its debt trap diplomacy.

Because Trump fucked this up hard focusing on his North Korean adventure instead of working in his own back yard. And he needs a easy win. And whats easier than hurting brown people next door so much that they buckle to his orange will.

Trump doesn't know what he's doing. The state department could right a lot of wrongs if the partisans including Obama would just let them. There will never be an easy win but everything will get easier if national security experts could get to work without political oversight.

I would bet they wouldn't even mind the oversight if it didn't come with tweets and intervention by Trump and his acting idiots.

CONCLUSION

OIG found significant evidence of systemic deficiencies in leadership and management relating to the treatment of career employees, as well as evidence that non-merit-based considerations played a role in at least two personnel decisions. Several employees raised concerns relating to disrespectful and hostile treatment of staff, inappropriate accusations of disloyalty and harassment of employees based on perceived political views, and retaliation based on conflicts of interest. Furthermore, despite being counseled by Department management regarding some of these issues, IO leadership has not adequately addressed these concerns. Such conduct conflicts with the Department’s leadership principles, which set expectations that its management will strive for a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive workplace. Moreover, these failures of leadership have led to serious morale problems in IO and to the departure of a significant number of career staff. OIG encourages the Department to take action to address these concerns promptly.

Basically Trump appointees are starting to get in trouble for forcing career public servants out because of perceived political affiliation.

He had a passport but his family had the State Department revoke it for his own daughter's safety.

You said PLA, but it is more accurate to call them the People's Liberation Army Navy.

:-o I love that.

They have a shit ton of oil. Therefore they need some "freedom." Some freedom to allow american corporate interests to exploit that oil.
