Trying to identify problem

Hey guys, I am having trouble with a few plants in my garden. They are outdoors in a greenhouse and I'm getting a few branches here and there dying. When I look at the branch there is a weird dead/rotted/chewed part right at the base where the branch hits the main stem. These branches end up dying and I have to cut them off. I am trying to determine if this is an insect problem, and if so what insect would do something like this? Let me know if you need any other information to help me diagnose this issue, I'll try to take some pictures next time I find one of these branches.

Thanks everyone! And enjoy your day! :)

Sounds like you have a grasshopper in your greenhouse. I had the same problem, I sprayed several different things but that damn thing wouldn't leave. So I had a few friends come over and we hunted it down and killed it. Hope you get ride of it soon before it causes more damage... you might try putting some cardboard around ur garden floor and apply Petroleum jelly all over it, you might catch it that way.

Hmmm... If that's what's doing it I have a much bigger problem than I thought. I literally see 30 grasshoppers a day in the greenhouse. It's not a sealed greenhouse so I may not be able to control grasshopper population.

I don't know where you're at or what the plant looks like but I know here in Cali a lot of people have been having big problems with rats. It's become a big topic this year in Cali.

Damn, problem with rats Id get a cat. Has the rat issue been a resent thing or have they been a problem in Cali for a while? Ive never had or heard of a Rat eating cannabis problem where I'm from.

It's a recent problem. Seemed to pop up this year. I've heard several stories from indoor and outdoor growers. They said the rats only chew on the plants a little but they climb all over them, breaking branches and getting into anything laying around. It was the first I've heard of it also but evidently it's happening more and more. I think a lot of people with more than one grow house rent low rent houses and don't do the up keep as well as they should. That's some nasty stuff when you think about it- rats touching or even shitting and pissing on plants that people might end up consuming. Outdoors anything is possible so that really doesn't surprise me that much. Just another pest to add to the already long list. The more people grow the more problems well be seeing.
