Trying to stay within the law.. but might need some help with electric bill.

So far I've only been growing for a few months, electric bill is not bad, only went up about $30. But so far only running One 400w HID setup, some T5's for clones and a few intake fans. When I start flowering here pretty soon I will be running another 400W light along with another 2 fans and light mover.

House payment has recently gone up to add to the pressure - escrow.

So I grow for my mother, daughter, Grandmother and myself. I have Chrons, Grandmother has cancer, mom and daughter suffer from daily migraines.

My question is, what options do I have to try and bring in some cash? Thinking about the caregiver route, but not really sure who that works or how to go about that. Thought about the You buy some crap, I give you an ounce route on craigslist, but I would rather avoid that whole grey area altogether.

The only one willing to go that route would be my daughter. My grandmother knows what she is taking, but denies that's what it is if you know what I mean. My mother and her husband both have guns and wont give them up, so she will never apply for a card.

Goto the website, everything is explained there, you can even call them and ask questions, be prepared to fork over some dough before you ca n do anything other than grow your six plants or whoever else lives in your house and is willing to say... hey partner i bet if you and the rest of your family in the house are very vigilant on un-pluging everything in the house that your not using will make up the $30 a month ,then when you add your second light it will be right where you started.. we as in my house hold did this and our bill went down $45 a month. im talkin like lamps. tv's, radio's ,chargers ,computers anything not being used that does not need to be left on like freezers ,refrigerators ,things that have to be on, but in all if your house hold helps then the bill will go down...

i believe the letter of the law just says 6 plants for each adult living at the address... nothing about the 2nd person having to be who the plants are for..... kind of picking fly shit out of pepper, but hats how I read it

Yes, excatly... If you and i were roomates and i was the only grower i can grow 12 as long as you are willing to claim 6 of those are yours if the state inquires "why am i growing 12?" if you were to say, no those are not mine nor was i aware they were growing then i could be in violation.

Right to be a legal caregiver, you must register your grow with the Marijuana Enforcement Division at the State. There is a whole page that will answer your questions. I personally have never had anyone at the State answer there phones. Even left a message, never tomhear from them.

There is very, very little regulation about personal grows. The most explicit I've seen is in SB 283 (http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont/4B75534D3719DBD687257B490074E195?Open&file=283_01.pdf) and its treatment of cultivation areas.

That (pdf pages 12 and 13) requires that if someone under 21 lives in the home, the cultivation area must be "enclosed and locked." If no one under 21 lives in the home, then the standard locks on your outside doors and windows constitutes "enclosed and locked" and that if someone under 21 enters the home, you must restrict access to the cultivation area. "Locked" and "enclosed" are both defined terms, but neither is too difficult to comply with.

Now, back to your point about help with the electricity, etc., I think they've hit the nail on the head. If you keep copious notes about costs, etc., and charge no more that that (particularly if you have a written agreement with the person, which says something like "I don't guarantee any amount of product") you are probably ok. Of course, that doesn't mean an overzealous cop or prosecutor wouldn't hassle you, but you stand a decent shot at acquittal (after spending several nights in jail and tens of thousands in your defense, mind you).

In summary, no one knows nuttin' for now.

Thanks everyone. Things are working out well so far. House Refinancing saved me $300 a month which helped allot. Just for clarification all those people don't live in my house, just my wife and I, and my grandmother cause she can no longer live on her own. Still exploring the idea of applying to become a caregiver.

Just a side note, I have some Harlequin clones for free if anyone needs one. Cut to many, and have about 5 extras. As part of the cannabis Free For All, no money will be exchanged. Actually they are rooted already, so not really clones anymore.
