I have been growing this strain for a while now and I can get it a little purple but never really dark or solid. Its supposed to be a 8 week strain but it has been a 9 to 10 week strain sense I have been growing it. I have never let it go a full 9 or 10 weeks I crop it at 8 and sum of the triches are still clear. I drop the temps down to low 60's when the lights are off. I feed it snow storm ultra. any tips on making this shit solid?

That looks dank..Yea man probably does have to do with maturity..What the longest you let it go for?
the longest i have letit go for is 8 weeks on the dot. I have 8 1,000 watts lights running so I try and crop as soon as i can to get a jump start on the trimming. this time im letting them go tell the triches are milky as fuk. im thinking 9 weeks and a couple days

do you think snow storm ultra would help? my GDP starts turning purple at week 6 also even without the temps being droped but mostly underneath the leaf and it gets cut off when I trim. im trying to turn the bud purple. the clones came from the coffee shop blue sky in oakland and I make my own cuttings off those for about a year now. in your picture with the plant thats hella pueple is that week 9?

Apothecary specializes in creating medical strains. They have been growing and refining this all-indica variety for five years. Her ancestors have grown in the hills of Northern California for over two decades, where her phenotypes have been known by many different names including Grape Ape, Purple Erkel, and Grandaddy Grape Ape.

As an indoor crop, Granddaddy Purple is equally happy in hydro or soil. With a pure indica heritage, this plant is predisposed to a short bushy stature. Granddaddy branches extensively, making her less than ideal for SOG style grows, but she can be trained to make an awesome super crop garden. When left to her natural tendencies, this strain will make a nice big shrub that reaches about 3 feet indoors or up to 8 feet outdoors. She is a hardy grower with tight internodes and dense dark green to purple leaves.

Granddaddy Purple is easy to work with throughout her growth cycle. She likes a cool temperature, between 70-80 F, and can be very forgiving so long as she is adequately watered. Due to her high resin output and dense structure, this plant can be alluring to mites.

Granddaddy Purple finishes her flowering cycle in 8-9 weeks. The buds are dense green nuggets that gain royal purple hues as they mature. Depending on the size she is allowed to reach, Granddaddy Purple can yield between 0.5 and 3.5 ounces apiece. outdoor plants will really deliver, with potential yields between 8 ounces and 5 pounds.

There is a potent, undeniable grape tinge to this plant' aroma, and a sweet grape taste that lingers subtly on the tongue. Granddaddy Purple's effects are enduring, with a smooth even feeling throughout. For an indica, her buzz is surprisingly alert and energetic rather than sedating. This is a good smoke for walking in the high meadows and swimming in the lake afterwards. Medicinally, this varity has given relief to cancer / chemotherapy patients. Granddaddy Purple has taken first prize in no less than four pot competitions: The Inglewood Medical Cannabis Cup in 2004, and the Green Cup in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

ive never used snow storm so im not sure..it should do it on its own or just up ur PK a little more and that should help..i get my clones from harborside in san jose, been to blue sky once and it was cool but i use to pick harborside oakland over blue sky just cuz it was closer..anyways the pic i got where its all purp is when i was giving it its final flush so probably week 8 -10..i flushed the shit out of that plant to so that made it get even MORE purple

I take everything down south. im going to start fucking around in sanjose i know sumone that has been doing that. I take it to earth source. erbal relief center, Bccp in bakersfield and I have fucked with delta 9 in torrance a couple times. I would really like to go out to the bay. mayby I can come in to where you work with sum. I harvest the end of january so shit should be picking up. I dont like to go to harbor side in oakland only because sumtimes you get strains other than the ones you bought. like 10 of the real deal and 30 of sumthing else. I have got sum gud ones there one time. this crop will be dark purple. the genetics are there for sure it turns purple on its own i just need to wait it out. i will eat top ramen noodles for breakfast lunch and dinner before I crop this shit with no color.

Didn't read this fully but don't use snow storm/ purple Maxx..it stops your plants from maturing and won't turn a green plant purple...purple is the color your plant turns as it matures because the chlorophyll that's in the plant (what makes plants green) is not regenerated as the plant comes to full maturation and I forget what the purple chemical is called but that takes longer to leave the plant then chlorophyll does hence the color purple shows thru..same with red and blue hues..snow storm/ purple maxx speeds this process and at the same time freaks ur plant out and they'll pretty much stop growing I speak from experience..

Your plant if given the amount of time it needs and depending on phenotype and temps will get as purple as its going to on its own..most gdp will turn purple without cold weather or be about 50% purple the super dark pheno's are harder to find I belive only about 20% of them turn very dark

GDP not going purple has to be the most posted topic in history.

It’s pretty dumb when you know GDP is just a NAME. It’s a CROSS of big bud and Urkle. Only ONE of those plants was PURPLE.
That’s why only some GDP (less than 50%) go purple. It’s only if you have an urkle leaner you get the purple. If your GDP is a big yielder it’s likely you have the big bud side and your GDP is GREEN.

GDP is not an impressive purple strain. I’ve seen heaps better. It’s just an oldY with a cool name.

Even urkle only has about 40-50% purple expression
The plant in the last pics looks more yellow than anything. :( Needs food.
Just because it's called purple munkey butt doesn't mean it's going to be purple, or smell like a monkey butt.
What's in a name....
It's thought that purple leaning phenos generally have a lower Thc % than it's green counterparts. Purple is just hype, buzz, bag appeal.... whatever you wanna call it. Yea it looks cool I guess? I can't see it when it's rolled up in my joint anyways so who cares really..?
There's better/cooler pheno expressions like pink hairs etc. that's just my opinion anyways

Couple things. Finding bona fide GDP is quite hard, was it a white label or do you have breeder info. To change colors it comes down to genetics, temps, and nutrients. Finish time from breeders are estimates at best unless your running genetics that have been worked a lot. So you should definitely let the plant go until it shows it’s finished. You should taper down your nutrients and drop night and day temps.
