Twin 250's Plush Berry and 2 freebies

hello friends, Bioengineered here with my first grow journal. I'm experienced with hydro and soil under small lights and look forward to sharing this grow with you. I plan on chucking some pollen to make some f2's and then back to a special mom. hell, I'll even chuck some at the freebies. I usually veg for a month with a topping and light training because of my smaller lights inability to penetrate a leafy canopy.Went with TGA/SUBCOOLS Plush Berry this time because I think he is doing really good stuff with genetics and I love tasty bud. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask.

Ordered the beans and they arrived no problems to the states like many times before. I prepared to sprout them by filling small plastic cups with jiffy starter mix and then poking holes in the bottom of the cups with a nail. saturated with ph adjusted water that had sat out to let any chlorine evaporate. made a small 1/4 inch hole and placed seeds pointy side down in hole. the cup drains well so no worries of rot or too much water. placed under my t5 and kept at 82 degrees. 3 days later all seeds have popped and are doing good. visible roots looking for new areas to invade so i transplant into 1 gallon bags for veg growth under t5's. 24 hour veg cycle and when big enough will turn on other 2 lights (2x250 hps) for a total of 716 watts. Because off the different qualities of the 3 lights, ill have to move the plants around by hand which is no issue with 5 gallon buckets and no screens to be tangled with.DCFN0004.jpgDCFN0005.jpgDCFN0013.jpgDCFN0010.jpgDCFN0008.jpgDCFN0015.jpgDCFN0016.jpg
this last picture is my classic "ed rosenthal closet grower" shot. I learned a lot from him

update today - started watering CNS veg 10ml per litre a few days ago, plants are handling it. moved them into the 5 gallons. switched the lighting around a bit to help with heat. I ditched the freebies power kush and cali hash, no room for them in the garden . DCFN0002.JPGDCFN0004.JPGDCFN0005.JPGDCFN0001.JPG

tuesday march 29th. topped early . experiencing heat stress with a few leaves cupping or canoeing up.
Im going to start a few f1's of a sandstorm x diesel cross i made last year and hope to cross to the plush berry for increased flavor.

thursday march 31. flushed soil day before, ph was at 5.7 and looking good.
going to buy another 21 inch box fan so i can move more air.
adding a homemade swamp cooler to add moisture and drop temps even more.
plants are doing fine

nice, I was looking to pick up some plush berry beans but they sold out :(
I'm excited to see how they turn out

sat apr 2.
plants are throwing multiple tops like expected. keeping ph at about 6. I am going to increase the nutes then and then prepare to transition into a flowering by cutting the hours back and switching up to CNS bloom. I changed foliar to distilled water and 5 ml to gallon of the CNS veg.
When I open the closet door after 6 hours of darkness, the smell is already noticeable. notice the fan blowing over a plastic lid with water and cloth in it to create moisture and add cooling, its kept my room 5 degrees cooler and added about 10 percent on the humidity level.

removed the 216 watt t5 from the garden. Now it is just the 2 250 watt hps lighting it.
plants were showing more signs of heat stress with rolling/canoing leaves. I live in the desert and our temps outside go over 100 and was maintaining an indoor temp in the closet at around 87 at hottest which is way too hot. bought a portable evap cooler from home depot for 100 dollars. kicked the temp down on the home ac unit a few degrees and ran the evap. brought down the temps to 79-80 and brought the humidity from 32 % to 50%.

I also finished switching up to the transitional flowering nutrient CNS bloom with added cal-mag plus because the plants were experiencing the deficiency.
This particular strain is the most sensitive strain I've grown. I topped for a second time some of the taller less even canopy plants to encourage more undergrowth to shoot up and join the ranks.

The smell is already outrageous. I Have no funds for a can filter at this time but will utilize brewing coffee as a masking scent and use an ozone generator in small increments.

put the t5 back in for more light, been running at 77-79 degrees. plants are looking better and picking up nicely from the added cal-mag treatment. i also added some blast off b-1 supplement . some of the plants are stretching more than others and part of this is do to the topping i did. all in all its doing good and im pleased.
when i walked into the closet today after hours of darkness. the smell was like dank like nothing ive grown before. it was an intense dank kushy cream smell with a sour overtone. im not even flowering yet and these terpines are showing through. awesome.

april 9th right before lights out. entering 3rd 12 hour dark cycle. tonight i will feed them with the bloom formula and cal mag added. DCFN0001.JPG

apr 10-11th
plants are looking healthy and big.
temps have been staying 77-79 and 55% humidity as compared to the 85-87 and 22% humidity.
12/12 for 4 days now and showing some females already but no males yet.
the smell of these are as strong as anything ive grown to full maturity at only 4 days in.
still some signs of the deficiency issues but overall vigorous growth.
one of the plants is showing some reds/magenta in a stem.Ive got a few plants that are growing extra stuff out of the petioles of fan leaves.

update apr 11th
i checked the plants to see the sex tonight and so far out of 10, 9 are showing female sex cept 1 little short one that looks like it will throw male parts. if so this is a good thing because from what ive read that makes it a decent male to use for pollen as its a late bloomer and not the tall hempy types that blow their loads first. will keep you posted

apr 12th
jumped the gun, i had one male for sure and might have another. culled the one male and now have 9 plants.
crazy leaf pattern and stuff growing out of petiole seems to be a trait of this strain as ive looked at test grows and other grows of this strain.
Ive been skipping a day of watering and they are doing fine this way for now. tonight i added hydroplex to the mix to kick up the p-k ratio and slow the nitrogen growth. also added more cal mag to fix the deficiency.

apr 13th.
foliar fed the plants with 5 ml of cns bloom to 1 liter of distilled water. turned off the hid's and kept the t5 on during this period. the tall pheno is coming in @ 23 inches about and the smaller at 18. when i opened the door from the 12 hour rest period. the humidity was like 70%. gonna have to tone thaqt down for flowering period with a little defoliation of some underneath growth that wont get much light from the weaker penetrating 250 hps as compared to 400 and above. this well help with air circulation as well and help to prevent things like damping off.

note the fingers growing out of the petiole. 13 leaves or more on that one.
DCFN0001.jpg the zinc deficiency really hit the newer little growth with white tips. im not worried. ill just keep hitting it with the cal mag supplement and keeping the ph adjusted. im drying out the soiless mix from the culled male to put away for later use. as for insects, ive only seen a few fungus gnats flying around the whole grow as compared to others where by now with soil i had to be spraying. heres some pics right after foliar feed.

thursday apr 14th

plants got watered today with this recipe- 15 ml per gallon cns17 bloom,2 tsp of cal mag per gallon,1 tsp of hydroplex per gallon.
i pull my plants out of the closet and water in the tub for best run off and drain in my case. i can also observe the plants better this way and be more attentive to any issues that might arise. i trimmed some of the lower growth off that wouldnt amount to much. this lowers the humidity( less foliage) a touch and cools better as it allows more air movement under and above the canopy. plants responded well to last feeding and showing less deficiency of zinc and cal/mag. color is more green also. my brother stopped by and said the closet smelled like a starbucks. sooooooo dank!!!!!

apr 16th

this crop i decided to dedicate all energy towards females and not males. i killed my 2nd and last male and also chopped a huge lady that was an awesome specimen but just too big and not enough of a canopy for my little area and weak lights . thing was humongous and so nice that it hurt . removing the big female and male really opened the garden a lot and will allowed much more light into the taller ones.

now i have 2 tall/large phenos and 5 of the smaller ones. since switching to the bloom nutes ive noticed a bit of nitrogen deficiency so i foliar fed with some higher nitrogen nutrients and also root fed.

the root mass on the culled plants looked good, nice and white and the large females was really taking over.
1st pic is the big mom followed by her 2 more times and then her roots. sorry for crappy pics, im working on getting a new camera
