So im looking into upgrading my set-up... Im thinkin Two 1000's or three 600's.
Which do you guys thinks would offer better yields and ease of use? bongsmilie

I would get the 3 600Watters, after all is said and done, you still have 400 more watts, and with the best 600W bulbs, you could acheive almost 1000w results. 600 Watts are more effecient at delivering lumens, and the 1000W are less efficient. You can also hook up 2 600Watters to 1 circuit, whereas the same does not hold true with 1000Watters; try putting 2000 watts on a circuit.

i average around two zips right now... So i can at least get that on the regular 3.3 pounds each harvest. :weed:

you average 2 with 600s or with less light. Larger plants= larger pots

I have two tents with a 600 in each. I have 3 gallon GROW bags and i get on average two zips per plant.
Never tried a 1000 and i wonder if there's any real difference in yields.

Perhaps a little but not an oz difference. Longer veg time will get ya 3oz or more water in flowering or more air. Those are the factors. Sounds like ya have the rest figured out.

Ya , i think il stay away from tha 1000... Just seems like to much heat. Im gonna get a huge grow tent and hook up the 3 600's and run 9 plants under each lamp. If i get 2 zips each that will b a lil over 3 pounds. Sounds good to me.:bigjoint:

I was watering daily at the end of my grows. I plugged most of the grow bags holes with tape so they held more water and so the water soaked in more. I had a shit load of water running out. Peeps say water slower. Yea right i dont want to take 5 hours to water.

Good luck to you my friend. I hope to hear how it went!

Merry Christmas!

Interesting thread; to know which lights would suit you better, you'd really have to know what your growing foorprint is.

I currently use a 1K in a 4x4 tent, and am going to expand by 1-1.5K watts sooner rather then later, and have been debating whether to go to 2 1Ks over a 4x8 table or 4 600s over four 3x3 tables.

The biggest issue is that there aren't too many tents that are 8x8 (not 9x9, need 8x8 exactly to fit), whereas there are tons that are designed to hold a 4x8 tray.

But just for the record, anyone who doesn't think that there's a sizable difference in yield and coverage using a 1K as opposed to a 600 is sadly mistaken.

Well ive been thinking the same ideas, but heat is an issue with a 1000. I could proly run 3 600's in a giant tent and get better coverage(closer to the tops)and have less heat and use less power. But then again ive never actually grown with 1000's only 600's. So what if any is the difference in yields you receive from the 1000?

recheck your math.

I've honestly never run tests to quantify it, so I couldn't answer that question regarding yield, other then saying "much more".

It's like asking "is there a yield difference between using a 250 and a 600?'

Well yeah, obviously there is.

And you really need to think about your growing footprint before you decide what lights work best for you - over a 4x8 table, 2 1Ks work great, but 3 600s would not adequately cover the perimeter.

On a 3x9 table, the 2 1Ks wouldn't get as good of coverage as the 3 600s in a row.

And it goes on and on..............figure out your footprint, then you can figure out the light(s) that make the most sense.

Um, unless I'm missing something, generally the "closer to the tops" my light is, the worse overall coverage I have.

1Ks can be hung higher (further from the plants), which gives you "better coverage", especially on the perimeter.

Right i hear ya,but what im sayn is that having the light closer = denser buds and higher yield. Now the argument goes that if you have a 1000 that produces 150000 lumens and that light is 2.5 feet from the tops you losing some lumens. And if a 600 produces around 90000 lumens, but is a foot or more closer. you would be just as if not more efficient. Like i said ive never grown with 1000's , but the argument seems reasonable. I was planning a future soil grow with 9 plants under each 600. This would all b in a large grow tent with all 3 light connected. So i guess each section would b a 3x3.
