Two tents and an idea with auto flowers...

Hello all,

I have been blessed with 2 tents. A 4x4 and a 4x8. The 4x4 has an LED light equivalent to 600 watts and the 4x8 has 2 lights equivalent to 960 watts each or something along those lines. Now, I was told I should set up a perpetual grow.I was instantly intrigued. I’m new, and I’m diving right in there. I have plants growing right now, they are my first grows ever. But when these are done, I plan on doing a perpetual grow. I want yield. And I want to harvest every 4-5 weeks. I am aware my first few times I am going to suck, but I’m a quick learner. So with that being said....

I have come up with this idea to have a bunch of auto flower seeds always on deck. With these, I can start them out small in smaller pots (maybe even the forever pot) and get a bunch of plants in my 4x4. After about a month, I can switch them all into my bigger tent, which hopefully the strain I use will be basically ready to flower at this point and that will be my flower tent until they are done. Basically at this point, I am using auto flowers so I am not worried about the light schedules and some younger plants being mixed with older plants in flowering stage won’t be an issue this way. So I can essentially just make room in my bigger tents when they get too big in my veg tent and move them in there. Is this a decent plan? Or am I at least onto something here? I am looking for ATLEAST 2-2.5 pounds every month or so.

With autos its even easier because you dont need to separate the two between veg and flower, you literally just blast them with light for 20 to say 21 hours a day until you harvest. Now if you wanted to do photoperiods, which tend to not only have bigger yields, but also higher potency, then you can use both and still be ok. Once you get up and moving, and get good at it, i imagine you could probably hit your goals with equipment like that.

If you learn the basics and have good lighting and good genetics, you can hit your goal someday but I'd recommend that you confirm your lighting before setting expectations. "LED light equivalent to 600 watts and the 4x8 has 2 lights equivalent to 960 watts each..." It's the "equivalent to" piece that should be verified. There are lots of LED light companies that exaggerate and mislead consumers about their lights (IMO). 600 true watts of white LED like quantum boards or COBs will be plenty for a 4x4 (30-35 watts per sq ft works). But a 600 watt equivalent LED may only cover about 2x2, which means you'd need 4 of those lights to cover a 4x4. GL and check out the LED threads for more info.

Lets do some math. I'd say I average ~4oz per auto. So that would take 8 autos flowering per cycle to hopefully attain 2lbs. There's your big tent. We'll call that round 1.
To maintain that perpetually, you have to start 8 seeds every month. No problem, right? Plenty of room in the 4x4! Yep, but...
You have to start 8 more when they're a month old.
Now you have 8 plants with a month to go, 8 plants that want that flower tent right now, and 8 seedlings wanting the 4x4. You still have a month until you harvest the first run. In that month, round 2 go through stretch and into full flower and won't fit the 4x4. The seedlings (round 3, fight!) will be 1 month old and starting to stretch/flower and it's time to start 8 more seeds...

I think you're gonna need a bigger boat!

What strain to assure you that yeild every months?

Have you got the right additional equipment to create an optimal environment?

What nute line have you decided on to ensure you get the yeild you want?

Since you have never grown before, what will you when you fuck up your plants and they are nothing what you expected because you are not thinking straight?

Just a few of countless questions which need to be considered before you set off on your delusional profiteering scheme.

Whenever someone talks about lights and says "equivalent"...
What actual draw do your lights have from the wall?

What lights are you using?, what medium are you growing in?, why switchbacks from tent to tent? What seeds are using ..if your new to this id suggest you start with 2 or 3 in your 4x4 and learn before you try and go big..and if your sticking to just autos and it was me..id use the 4x8 to grow 2 rounds a month a part and turn the 4x4 into a dedicated drying room..either way you haven't given us much to go on other then the tent sizes..and that your under estimating the cost I to outfit these tents..including electricity

Im not going to lie, your snobby ass had me in tears with “I’m going to piss on your bonfire” XD. Anyways, I still appreciate the reply. A wise man once told me “there is no such thing as a dumb question”. Hence why I’m on here asking you jabronis about my plan. I see the questions you are stating I SHOULD be asking and your not wrong. But as far as what nutes and shit, I use ocean forest and flora series nutes. As a new grower, that was irrelevant to me because I am going to be trying new shit as I do new grows. But hey, now I know. My bad for not mentioning. Quick tip for you though, based off some of your snobby comments towards others as well just by looking at your messages for a quick minute I think you may want to double check what you got going on with your pot bro shit don’t sound like it’s working LOL.
