Did you see my new shade cloth ? Damn ! I'm gonna have a good day ! Going to run to the nursery and get one more box of guano and see if they'll cut me a deal on 12 more bags of soil for my main soil,stop by Wally World for a humidifier. My flower room sits at about 35% RH or less. Going to finish the shade cloth and build a locking door for the greenhouse and we have some clones that need to be transplanted. Busy day, Check with ya all tonight.

I'm liking it ! Not to sure about how much sun it filters but we'll see come summer. I like it and feel more comfortable about the coverage from the sky and the neighbors.

Nice the thread is movin right a long! I need to stop waiting and order my smart pots : ) Cant wait to see what that soil does for ya i am thinking about running the same soil next year here. The creek dirt up north really seems to do wonders. Cant wait to see how this soil does for ya! Its were the love begins!

I'm kinda like a dog with a bone. Even if I used smart pots I'd still have to bury them. LOL I save two feet at least at ground level. Do you think gophers would eat into a smart pot ?
And it begins... Round 2, I think 2012 is going to be a great year

). I'm still contemplating where to dig my raised beds to best keep the plants still hidden out of sight but to get way more direct sun than mine got last year 
Have you considered a ScroG to keep them low and even below 6 feet but away from the plastic so you won't have to worry about mold/mildew/air flow as much? . I'm still going to take some precautions when making my raised beds by lining the holes I dig with a few layers of chicken wire. I've also read that you can place your smart pots on thick burlap or chicken wire to prevent them from coming up through the bottoms, so I assume you could do it all around them if they're in a hole for the same effect? so these thoughts of keeping them low and out of site.. scrog, lstraining, etc... I was thinking, can you just 'starve' them ..not feed them.. during the veg stage if they are getting too big? after the stretch, hit em with bloom nutes to get the buds phat? damn.. thats prob a thread on its own. kk

have ya ever put a hose full on into a gopher hole?? sometimes the damn things never fill up.. lolAnd it begins... As for the gophers ...... I have a feeling this year will be very bountiful

i have 3 cats and a hound who diggs like a mofo after them.i wish it was that easy.we spent grip of $$ on them gassers,spent the day diggin and gassin,they just moved to the other side of the yard.pricks. the neighbors buy the wire for gophers,they will eat thru chicken wire.i swear it!the only plant that got eatn on otherside of the fence was the 1 plant that they used actuall chicken wire.they said the gopher ate thru it. they got my large pumkins last yr,i wont chance it.And it begins... Glad I found your thread TWS.
I use Hardware cloth for gopher prevention. I had gophers in my garden 2 years ago, they got 2 of my plants. I had half ass gopher prevention, but they got me.
Last year i made individual "cages" under my 3'x3' 12 inches high wooden raised beds. So it looked like another 3'x3'x1' wire box under the wooden raised bed part with the wire going up the sides and attached to the sides of the raised beds. I did 3 like this, then ran out of hardware cloth. I used half inch chicken wire on the 4th box, it was still invaded by a gopher and that plant died.
Half inch hardware cloth is the ticket, expensive, but well worth it.
TWS good idea about putting pots in the ground, keeps them cool in the summers heat.
If I were you I would just grow 4-6 in that 12' x 16' area in the ground. I SCROGED 4 in my 16' x16' weed cage last year, I lost 1 (mentioned above) tgo gophers and pulled 7+lbs from the other 3. I would SCROG 4 girls and grow MONSTERS. Use your "Super Soil" in 4 holes, but rototiller in some goodies in that greenhouse area. You can grow 4 FAT BEAUTIES in there, that's what I would do.
