tying down in bloom

Wanted to see what you all think of tying down in flower. I did some slight tying down last night, not to much. My plants are just so dense. They are like little bushes... I did a little tying down with no problems so the plants have better penetration from the lights. I figured it is fine I'm at the halfway in flower, just did not want to do to much tying and cause unwanted stress.

I've done it and have never seen any adverse effects. These days I just take off all the big fan leaves about a month in. Actually increased my yield in the same size footprint doing this.

Yeah buddy! You are on the right track. But as you mentioned, halfway through flower, be careful. Certain strains more than others don't do stress too well and I'm sure have seeded more than one growers crop. Last thing you want is nearly worthless crop full of hermie seeds. But you should be able to spot anything like that with a little proactive plant inspecting. Good luck sir!

The fasn leaves on plants are blocking the bottom and side flowers. The bottom is not my concern its mostly the side shoots which some fan leaves are blocking. I have huge fat indica fan leaves but I could not see myself plucking them, I feel that's not a good move. Like I said I only did a slight tie down, I didn't pull to hard at all. Hopefully it works out. I'll post some pics soon.

I get 90% of my training done during veg & 1st two weeks of flower. I won't hesitate to do it later if I can spot an advantage in adjusting a limb to catch more light.

Be careful as time goes on, the limbs get a little more brittle, especially if the pots are dry.

Hey aim. I watered a hours before so branches were pretty flexible. The clones in the veg tent are tied down they look awesome, I can't believe how well tying down works. Its great because it gives me something while waiting for harvest-adjusting the ties, loosening ,tightening ,ect.

Eh I was in the all natural camp for a long time. I tried tucking the fans back to provide more light penetration, but the plants were just so damn bushy. Tucking the fans back just seemed illogical considering they weren't getting any light. I read all the forum post I could about defoilating and it was nothing but people arguing constantly, so I decided to do my own experiment. Turned out with my strain mild defoilating actually increased my overall yield and made my space much more manageable. The spots I pruned healed up within 48 hours, and bud production below the colas increased.

I certainly don't recommend it to newer people, but it's what I do. What you are doing will absolutely in no way harm your plants. I would prefer to spread mine out a bit instead of defoilating, but I have extreme space constraints.

Cheers.

Yeah most of the training (topping, lst, supercropping) has little to no effect on the overall plant. It has adapted to growing outdoors where sometimes life is tough on a plant.

I'm in the same boat as you were, my plants are thick ass bushes. Check out the pics on my thread 1600w 2nd run, its on this newbie forum. The pics actually don't show how thick the growth is but you'll get the idea.

Do it all the time as well. Doesn't seem to hurt at all. I have broken many stalks as well getting a bit overzealous with the bending and that didnt seem to bother some strains either, actually did really well lol.
