Type of stone from color of trichs

Well,guys

i know the whole harvest time thing,more amber for body,cloudy for head.

i just love the stone with the ruined eyes,thats when i know im stoned,when ive got killer chink eyes,

im assuming i want to go heavily toward the cloudy side for this,as im not really fussed about any body stone,as long as im real stoned and my eyes are gone,as if my eyes arent super chinked im never really that stoned.

ideas,people who have tried either????

I have harvested both ways and they can be very different. Cloudy makes me giggle and amber makes the pain manageable. I usually go for an even mix of both. You just have to keep an eye on them and check samples from different areas on different plants.

Harvesting when trichome colors will make a difference in the high or stone you get but you will really only be able to fine-tune what you grew and not really change it greatly.

It is not as if you can grow a pure or predominantly indica and harvest when the trichomes are milky/cloudy and turn it into a true sativa high and you cannot harvest a pure or predominantly sativa when the trichomes are amber and turn it into a true total couch-lock body stone of an indica.
　
If you want a certain high or buzz first pick genetics that will give you that and then fine-tune it by harvesting at different times when some trichs are cloudy/milky and another time when most have turned slightly amber and then after that if you grow the strain again you will know which you prefer and then stick with it.

Do not wait until the trichomes are fully amber, and definitely not a dark amber because by that point THC degradation has begun and you lose THC and gain CBN and that just gives you a messed up feeling. Unfortunately many growers/smokers confuse that messed up feeling for being increased potency and tell other growers/smokers to wait until their trichs are fully amber and a nice dark amber and claim that means increased THC potency. Once the trichomes have turned milky/cloudy the level of THC has maxed out and will remain at that level until the trichomes are fully amber and at that point the degradation process begins so even if someone like a couch-lock body stone if they wait until their trichs are fully amber, and even more so a dark amber they have traded THC for CBN and less THC potency for a CBN messed up feeling.

But expecting to totally change one genetic trait into a totally different genetic trait by harvesting when the trichome colors are different would be very similar to an attempt of alchemy. In short … it ain’t gonna happen.

Good advice Brick top,its my first grow(apart from the 5 auto ak's that were stolen)

and its an early skunk from sensi seeds,shes weird,i topped her at 2 months,and she has no main middle cola,and no buds on the main stem,shes got 4 main colas at the top(2 true ones,but the next 2 down are meaty) as fair as i can tell,and all the buds are on stem offshoots,theres literally about 25 main end of offshoot flowers and all the popcorns along them

ive been looking through my swiss army kinife lense(i know its not great,but its literally just good enough to see the trich color no problem) and i have no amber ones,and id day about 75% cloudy trichs atm

Bluemax, topping will change the main cola to 2 or 4 main colas. (Or more, if you top again and again, etc.) Once you've topped, you've changed the structure of the plant's top output. ;)

indeed i now know this,changes the plants appearance like mad,i had done it with 1 of my auto ak47s,and that looked mental,its so easy as well

Yeah, they looked kind of "wild" to me at first after topping, but then I got to preferring how they look topped as opposed to uncut. You should see what LST does! :mrgreen: The girls I have in flower now had LST with no topping. The ones I have in veg I topped above the 2nd node for the four main tops, and then started LST this week.... I can see I'll be getting the same effect, but in much less time. Many bud sites, with much more than half substantial rather than popcorn. I've got lots of trimming ahead of me! :hump:
