UK - Cold air intake...

Hi everyone

I live in the UK and as it's minus -5 outside, by the time my intake gets the air into my tent the temperature of it is 6 degrees. The steady overall temperature of the space is 24 - 25 degree with the lights on top.

I suppose aside from fan speed controllers (it's already on a variac) or allowing my air conditioning unit to cool the room the tent is in instead (more control over temperatures) and just using a passive intake - is there anything that I could be doing here I am not already doing ?

The concern is that 6 degrees (42.8f for our American counterparts) is too cold for the girls; even though it's getting mixed up by the fans you can see.

Thanks in advance

Hi Kieron, I'm confused, isn't your tent in a room indoors ? You could be getting air intake from the room. If the tent is outside, in a shed or garage or whatever, how do you manage lights-off temperatures ?

The tent is indoors.

I've tried air cooling the hoods with air from outside and the temperature in the tent is 30 C - intake from outside cools the tent down to 24 C which is obviously better.

There is a CF filter attached to the exhaust venting the hot air at the top of the tent.

I suppose turning the intake off completely and just controlling the room temperature with the AC is an option - but that's effectively what happened when I used the intake to cool the hoods which resulted in the higher 30 C, room temperature was about 20 C at this time.

The AC goes down to 16 C so taking off those extra 4 C of cooling from that 30 C me at a resting temperature of 26 C which is higher than I currently have.

It seems running the AC in winter to gain a higher temperature is wrong on so many levels !

I'm sure there is a better way to rig this set up.

you could try blending the volume of outside and inside air at the intake ? Just getting a percentage of cold outside air in.

Or, if you're using that room just for the grow, have the outside cold air adjust the room temperature instead of the AC.

IMG_3869.JPG That's exactly what I am doing now.

I have a fan diffusing that air across the underneath of the lights where the radiant heat hits the plants.

I just hope that colder air isn't going to upset them into thinking it winter and hence cause stress / prevent growth.
