Uk greenhouse grow....

If I wanted to try growing a few plants in a greenhouse what seeds would you recommend?
And what timeframe would you suggest?

I could start seeds indoors, choose a few mothers and create clone cuttings for the greenhouse.....
OR
I could start AUTO SEEDS off indoors or in the greenhouse?

I'd like to treat 2014's greenhouse grows (my first non-indoors grow)
as experimental, and try growing just one or two plants of several different seed strains.
Then, next year, I could hit the ground running, armed with the knowledge accumulated this year.....

AUTO'S (FEM)
These are unsuitable for cutting or clones.
They need straight forward germination, planting, TP'ing to larger pots and growing....
THAT SIMPLE.
But, because they cannot be manipulated with photoperiods, they need planting at the right time.
Not so early that a late frost could destroy the roots, not so late early frosts destroy it before they're ready to harvest.
Starting indoors is an option
(Or even installing artificial warmth within the greenhouse).

Any advise or suggestion are welcome - it would also be nice to read the experiences of other greenhouse growers
(It is not limited to UK growers only, anyone can join in).

Last year I done a 6 plant auto ww by vision seeds. They weren't in a greenhouse just outside. I planted to late (June 1st) by the time September came 5 of the plants had quite bad bud rot. Part n parcel of Scottish weather id say. This year im going with autos again for the simple reason that photo period plants just might not finish on time. And the sheer size they can reach may be a problem to keep out of site. This year im planting at the start of april, I'll be starting them indoors for maybe 2 weeks then 'harding them off' before planting outside. This year as im planting earlier I plan on using straw/hay to cover the ground where I plant. I'll be doung this so if there is a late frost the straw will kerp it off the ground and hopefully protect the roots.
Yeah the down side of autos are you need as many beans as you want plants. But on the flip side I'd rather go with autos that WILL finish than go with photo periods that might not have time to finish.
I know of ppl in Scotland who have successfully grown photos start to finish but with limited strains.
Purple wreck
Fresian dew and
Hollands hope are a few I can remember.
My advice to you would be as your using a greenhouse your plants will be somewhat protected from the elements. Personally id run a few autos and a few cuts or seed starts and see which performs/pleases you best. Then next year you'll have a solid idea of what your gonna do.
hope this helped a bit mate, sorry for rambling on lol :)

kinda new to this site but have had quite a bit experience outdoors/greenhouse growing. I'd say dont be so worried , its called weed for a reason unless its a lanky sativa or planted too early or harvested too late itll still be good quality. I'm up in scotland so pretty cold and iv still seen my buddy grow a jungle of lhaos thai in his greenhouse which never finished until mid november and was shit hot :bigjoint: and i'v personally grown several strains of autos and indicas outside in a few of my spots and only had bud rot once with a really dense plant. my advice is in a greenhouse pretty much ANY strain goes and outdoors auto's and indicas only but check that they finish end september to middle of october V.V latest. Couple good non-auto strains are outdoor C99-female seeds, pineapple chunk-barneys farm, trainwreck-greenhouse seeds, early widow-elite seeds , early pearl/early skunk/early girl-sensi seeds and KC brains mango . Plant them between end of april and start of may. Hope this helps and Ive not pointed out anything obvious haha!:leaf::bigjoint::weed:

Ive done 4 grows in the uk and all with great rewards,
If you want an early harvest then id go for the big devil#2, they took about 12 weeks from seed and gave me about 20g of actual dence nugs, no wispy leafy stuff these autos are the bomb, loads of people from other uk forums rate these and so do i!

I have grown purple maroc and easy sativa for 3 years now and they always perform well with a 100% harvest. The easy sativa is normally done by the end of september & the purple maroc a few weeks later.

Frisian dew, hash plant#2,kc brains mango work well aswell

Aslong as you are getting 5hours+ direct sunlight a day and some nice soil/compost you are nearly there mate

If you want to do autos in the UK, i would suggest Onyx.

Saying that, most can work. I got 3 ounces of a auto sweet tooth last year that spent its entire life outside, no lights or anything.

Nice one, guys
I'd lost track of tis thread....

I may have to choose between a greenhouse OR a breezeblock hut
(not enough room for both).
The area I live in may be too built up to risk having plants behind glass....?
But a 24 x 18ft Hut could be used to grow under light, 12 months per year.

Tomorrow I'm going to have a look at an area I think may be perfect for some outdoor action.
A small valley that has a 'river' running along the bottom (the locals call it 'the dike' - which tells you how 'river-like' it is)
it is overgrown with brambles and stinging nettles and this will dissuade casual walkers from stumbling over the plants
IF I CAN FIND A WAY IN....???

your spot sounds pretty good as long as people cant see you going to or from it to tend them . I'm going to use a field that's similar kind of lay out this year. good luck !:weed: ~sssam420:leaf::bigjoint:

Yea all sounds pretty safe, try make your way into the nettles through the back or somethink, try not to make trails that can be visable!
I use a greenhouse, glass with a few panes missing but that helps with airflow when i need it,always do easy sativa 12ltr pots+ may-september always 1-2 oz easy. Also done my big devils in there, they stayed about 1.5ft so really good for privacy & the easy sativas can be topped a number of times to stay small!
