Uncle Ben I'm sorry but I disagree, ... I used 10-56-10 on this Cannabis Culture bud contest winner. Its not all fucked up. Proof's In the Pudding. :bigjoint:
well I look at the pic and see that you mostly kept it green (see a few yellow leaves) so I have to say that your puddin is proof of what UB says and your strain was merely able to handle the high P nutes

I've already got the FF nutes so I'll use them until they are gone (can't afford to waste even less then ideal nutes),and then start using things that are designed to keep my plant healthy, not stuff that's supposed to maximize flowering and production. Less P and more N.
I understand where you're coming from, but is $8.98 too much for you? That's all you need for Jack's Classic "Dynamic Duo" (grow and bloom together; 8 oz. of each), which will last you quite a bit at 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. per gallon of water. :D My own "less than ideal" nutes are still sitting on a shelf... haven't tossed them yet because I too have a hard time with "wasting" anything, but honestly it's much more of a waste to continue using what doesn't help (and often hurts). Just sayin'... ;)

I agree..Peters makes the best chemical ferts:hump: I remember the days when I could get 20-20-20 anywhere, and blossom booster.. Now its called Jacks Classic, very hard to find in my area. I miss that fert. fer sure
Here ya go... you can buy it online like I did. :hump:

Asking UB is cheating :bigjoint:

Get back to class
 That's funny right there!

thought i was having a problem with build up so i flushed my plants with a ph of 5.8 and ppm/ec 150 and when i was finished the flush the ph was at 6.4 and ppm/ec was 400. Would this be considered a bad build up of nutes/salts and why would the ph jump so much

Katatawnic,

It's not the $8 to buy new nutes that's the issue- It's not using 3 full bottles of nutes that I paid $15/each for. I'll just end up adjusting the formula FF suggests so that I'm running at a higher N and lower P levels for this grow, then switch to something that won't need so much adjusting once I've used them up.

I knew what you meant, Ed. I've been through the same. ;) I still stand by it being even more of a waste to use what doesn't work. The constant adjusting isn't worth the headache to me, and I'm on SSI income so believe you me, I know what being broke and not wanting to waste a cent is like. I'd previously thought about just giving away the nutrient bottles I've got sitting on a shelf, but I don't plan on it anymore... I don't think it'd be very nice of me to give someone else the problems I had. They'll just end up going into the trash bin when we move in the next couple of months.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "looking down" on anyone who does it differently than I do. ;) It's just that we all have spent a lot of money on things that we ended up not using; no one is immune to that... clothes, CDs/DVDs, and the thousands of things we believe we "need" daily, just to find that we don't (or at least rarely) use them. I personally would rather nutrients for my precious babies to be "wasted" by not being used than to be "wasted" by using what my plants don't need/want. But that's my way, not everyone else's. :D

hey ub, do you know if using miracle grow pearlite would effect anything in a dirt mix? i wish i could give you a % of what's what in the mix but i ran out of my pro-mix unexpectedly and tried to make my own concocktion . i used a basic 'top soil', and an 'organic blend' (some peat & spag. moss, compost, top soil), some added spag. moss, some d. lime, and lots of the mg pearlite. i rinsed the pearlite with lots of water before i used it, but then i got to thinking that it's probably a slow release. my plants are slow growing and have kept a light green color to them. been careful not to overfeed or overwater, no signs of either. i up-pot three times each plant. would the organic blend cause issues too? it's amazing here where i live their is not shit to choose from except for what's at lowe's, home depot, or wal-mart and they all carry the same things. i guess i could have used straight spag. moss and lime. your thoughts on this would be greatly app. thanks

Kat,

I make my living keeping track of business's costs and showing them where they are wasting money, so the idea of letting anything that's part of the "expense" of my grow go to waste is just really alien to my way of doing things. I do get where you're coming from, I just need some time to contemplate the whole idea before I can decide what to do. I've also got to factor in that the person that got me the clones and helped me decide how to organize my grow area is all into the FF stuff, and he really wants me to give it a fair shot before I decide to try something different.

I may just split the difference and do half of them with the FF and half with some of the things suggested in this thread so that I can give him something for comparison. I'm keeping a growth, watering, feeding, etc log, so this may be a good opportunity to do a comparison study for myself.

That's a very good idea! Good for you :bigjoint:

Now that's an excellent idea! Then instead of waste, it's experimenting and documenting. :hump: Glad I thought of it! :bigjoint:

If your plants are light green and growing slowly, they may need some nitrogen. Are you currently using any nutes?

Have you looked around for any Seed & Supply stores, Nurseries, or Greenhouse & Supply type stores? You usually dont even know they're in your town until you go looking. I found one thats 2 miles down the road from me that has everything possible, and I never had a clue it was there.

yes my base is 6-4-4, organic tea 4.8-1.8-4.3, b additive 2-1-4. i havn't feed over 1000ppm. i thought it was n also but i should have enough right? i have even been foliar every three days with kelp/b-add and the base nute along with a surfactant. could i have lockout because of the dirt??

Perhaps you've just got a slow growing strain. Not all strains are fast shakers and movers.

Got any pics of them?

you can use any perlite, there's no nute in it, so I don't see how it's slow release?
Light green? means low N, I know I'm not UB but thought I'd help ya out a little

thanks hardroc, i appreciate anyone's info. it said on the bag of pearlite that it is 'enriched with mg nutes'. they are growing about 1in a day. i broke my camera, that would help alot. i just transplanted one of my larger ones to some new dirt and now it's all droopy like it's thirsty. the transplant when very well, shouldn't have shocked it. i really don't know what to do. since the dirt is new everytime i transplant could that cause lockout since the dirt mix is not completely devoid of any sort of nute? i have been using pro-mix hp for a long time and it doesn't anything in it.
