Under the sink - RO question

Thank you so much for helping me. The Hydrologic Stealth RO 100 or 200 systems do not have instructions of any kind online. I'm new to Reverse osmosis, plumbing, even hydro to an extent but I want to start with a proper water source.

I just picked up this Hydrologic RO 100 that has 4 months use or so the seller said. I have a new pre-carbon and sediment replacement filter if needed later. So how do I install this thing? I will be so stoked for the assistance. Here's my set up:

This thing connected via a hose to the top of the sink. I Googled it, it's for a garbage disposal of which I don't own one. Go figure.



I just want to hook this thing up. All help is appreciated and this may turn out to be a useful resource to a lot of people out there!

Hmm, where to begin? Did that come with a pressure gauge or any black tubing? I don't run mine plumbed into my sink so all I can tell you is how I run mine hooked up to my faucet using the garden hose adapter.

For starters, the hole in picture 2 is where the source (in) water should go. From there it goes directly through the sediment filter to the pre-carbon filter. Then it should go through a small white hose to the 'squarish' end of the membrane canister on top.

The black tube exiting the 'round-ish' end of the membrane canister is the waste water line and the blue tube is your fresh water line. Both enter into that little black box which is the Automatic Shut-off Valve (ASVO). The black (waste water) line then enters into the Flow Restrictor (FR) and then on to wherever you want your waste water to go.

Bottom line is: Water in ---> sediment filter ---> pre-carbon filter ---> RO membrane ---> black and blue to ASVO ---> black to FR then waste ---> blue to buckets.

Not sure if that helps you or just further confuses you!!

The hydrologic connects straight to the faucet. There seems to be some regular 1/4" hoses missing. Also might need an adapter to attach to the faucet, I got one at Home De Pot.

So you both connect the Hydrologic to the sink faucet. So is this something you can connect, use, and then disconnect and store? FileError404, looks like your RO could be easily hooked/unhooked and stored. That would be great, I have a pretty small apartment and having the setup connected to my faucet 100% of the time would not be very stealth.

Gcvt420, you mention for starters the source water goes into the "sediment thing" in picture two. From there through the two filters and membrane and then "through a small white hose to the 'squarish' end of the membrane canister on the top." Pictures are below, but does it just plug in like this? If so, it wants to pop out... I'm missing something.

I am surprised given the popularity of this unit that the instructions are not online somewhere. I bought it online via Craigslist and there is no supporting installation information!

The white supply (in) line is 3/8" and the rest are 1/4".

You can absolutely set this up, assuming you have/buy the right parts, so that you can hook it to a faucet when you need to make water and then toss it in a closet when it's not in use. One very important thing if you do this is, you never want to let the membrane (in the black horizontal tube) to dry out. Basically, if you're putting it away, make sure that all hose ends are above the level of the membrane so the system remains hydrated. If the hoses are below the membrane, and it's stored long enough for water to leak out, the membrane will dry out. Basically, the idea is to keep water in contact with the canisters and, more importantly, the membrane. Canister cartridges are fairly inexpensive but quality membranes are pricey.

In looking at your pictures, you have the white hose between the pre-carbon filter and membrane connected correctly. These are 'push-in' compression fittings. If the tube is popping out, you may have a faulty fitting which may need to be replaced. I assume you're pushing the hoses in to the fittings pretty hard - don't be shy.

All the hoses seem the same size including the inlet to the white plastic part. I need to hit Home Depot and pick up something to attach the RO to the faucet.

First question, when you refer to the 'white' in hose is that pertaining to this?

i just purchased this unit. the 200. im having a VERY difficult time hooking this system up. i had another R/O unit and i did not like it, plus i wanted a better unit. now im kinda bummed. i had low pressure. so i had to purchase a Booster Pump. so anyone wanna give me some pointers for hooking up below the sink? i do not have the option o fusing it to connect to the sink. there has got to be an option to have this unit hooked up under my sink and have it connected to my R/O faucet. please help. i know this is an old thread, bit its worth a shot!!

They've already changed the filters a doz. times by now....If they still use them!
