Underground Potential?

Running a big load over long distance is going to cost in lost electricity. You might come out ahead to put up a little shed over it and get another power pole. But if you do run the power from your power pole, the bigger wire you use, the less is lost in transit.

And venting your fans through a chicken pen is always a good idea. Helps with heat and smell.

No, I won't be stealing any electricity running from the pole. I already made that point clear. My main panel is located on the electrical pole. I will be running from there.

Too Larry, you have a good point on the chicken coup. I may do that. I do have large dogs but I don't wanna keep them contained.

Getting a new pole installed is out of the question, I will be running most likely 10/3 wire from pole to grow op 18 inches deep. I am going to start off using 4 1000 watt lights. May upgrade to 6 in time.

As far as venting goes, there is a small window on the upper wall in front of the cellar I could possible vent through and seal the rest of the opening. My only other option is to run it above the cellar through the roof out the top and have a chicken coup on top. I have been needing some chickens anyway. But how do I make a hole through the top concrete roof and through the ground back outside?

I also have two small vent holes in the lower part of cellar wall for fresh air in I guess I will use.

My Daddy and his dad made whiskey. They had an underground set up that vented the smoke and steam up through a chicken pen. Also chickens make good watch dogs.

I'm guess it would be easier to go through the blocks in the wall than the roof. You will need a good supply of fresh air. In my one cardboard box clone grow, I did my intake near the floor and and the exit near the ceiling. Folks I know with storm shelters {not used for growing} have a vent pipe above ground with an elbow on it to keep the rain out. I have seen them hid under a bucket with holes in the sides or in the middle of a hedge. You could get the piping done, then build your chicken pen around it.

actually the chicken coop/ fake doghouse idea is great. So good that I have done that same thing years ago in my first house and totally forgot about it lol.
I would leave the roof intact if possible and try to ventilate thru the window you mentioned. depending on the size of the opening you might be able to run both exhuast and incoming ducting thru it. First step is to measure the room and figure out total volume. Once you know that you can size your ducting based on required Cfm then you'll know if the window is large enough.

just realized size is in first post. your volume is 864 ft3 a good rule of thumb is total air exchange every 3 minutes so around 300 cfm should be adequate. Most fans this size use 6" round ducting. so if you can fit 3x 6"dia ducts into the window ( one active exhuast, two passive intake ) or 2x 6" ducts if both intake and exhuast are active, you should be good.
keep in mind more airflow is better and always overbuild. its easier to run a larger fan at 50% than rebuy and replace equipment that wasnt up to snuff. also 4 thouies put out heat you may want ducting to air cool them. like i said more is better

Ok I am not an electrician but I weird up my whole house meter can Leeds to dte box inside and 20 circuits. Run at least 100 amp service with a sub panel or you won't be able to run half of what you have, in gray pipe for electrical.

Hey fellars, sorry for such a long ass delay in updating this thread and progress on the op.

I have finally drylok'd the walls and currently working on the celing. I plan on instead of using the entire area for one large flower room to add 4 4x4 tents in there instead and each one running a 1000 watter. So 4kw of lighting for now. Once things get dialed in I will likely upgrade to 5, 6, then up to 8kw. But for now let' focus only on the 4,000 watts total of lighting.

I ended up going with 2-2-4-6 URD aluminum wire (120 feet for $228.00) and also purchased a 100 amp main breaker panel to install in the cellar. This should be more than efficient to pull my load with entire ease and also allow for future add one up to 7 or 8 lights and still be in the safe zone.

I purchased the wire from an electrical supply store and asked the owner what he recommended to run to a 100 amp breaker. He first recommended a copper wire which was 5 dollars and some odd change per foot!!! Wtf!?!? No thank you. Then he mentioned he had the aluminum wiring which would work the same for a dollar and some odd change per foot and that was I was filled with relief in return.

So I plan on purchasing a Titan controls Helios 8. What else do I need to add to my list??

Here are a few pics of progress on the cellar. It' coming along slowly but since harvest and manicuring my OD grow is slowing down a bit that is gonna change really fast I'm ready to get this shit done folks. I need all the help I can get.

I have a buddy that says he can do it. I definitely can't hire a pro around here, regardless of what I tell them they will know what it is being used for. I just need someone close that I can trust with great knowledge. Maybe find a pro online to help me do it step by step would be best.

The ceiling is concrete, that black stuff you see in the photo on ceiling is some type of paper and I am assuming tar paper. I'm just gonna drylok over that too.

And does anyone know where some legit 4x4x6 tents or 8x4x6 tents are online? What I mean by legit is true 6ft in height. They are all 6ft 7 or around that range. That' just a hair too tall for a fit in there as the ceiings are 6ft4inches.

I have 2 4x4s already but they are too tall. Like the others I'm finding they are 6 ft 7 inches.

fuck the tents u b tossing, how wide maybe 2 rows.u gotta raise that floor a bit for warm roots!u want a short veg with lots of topping I run 20 3 gal pots on a 4x10x6 I don't like bending any more lol 90 days done

With tents I could recirculate the heat much better than without. Everything would also be a bit better controlled.

It's definitel going to get vented. I have the window and 2 other areas I could vent from. I have two small holes that are in the wall of the outside facing wall of the cellar I believe whoever built this cellar had them there for ventilation purposes anyway.

Thick styrofoam should work great as a floor insulator. Brings them off the ground and also insulates the bottoms of the pots as well.
