Understanding my Nute Meter

Hey all, I recently purchased a CF ECOstick. Not the most accurate device in the world, but it's all I can afford.

I'm still trying to understand the read out. Right now, I test my res and it gives me a .5 EC. It converts this to about 250 ppm @ ECx500 and 400ppm @ ECx700. I'm about 3 weeks into this grow so I wanted around 450 ppm.

I'm a little confused since I have read that ECx700 is the USA standard. But w/ the conversions I've read online ((EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 500 ppm). By this conversion shouldn't it be 250 @ ECx700?

dunno about that maybe sum1 else could help out on that, but all i know is when i do my nutes i need an ec between 1.2 & 1.6 it depends on what nutes ur using go on the products website there should be a guide of what e.c you should be using! an remember to check the e.c in the water, coz if its 0.5 u must add 0.5 more then what it states - hope this helpz

I'm using the General Hydro flora series. I checked out their website and it confused me even more. Their table suggests twice the dosage than the bottles suggest.

So if I check the ec in the res you add .5 more? Why is that?

sorry! this is all before you put the fresh nutes into your pot! you check the e.c in the water before adding nutes, so if it suggest an ec of 1.2 and your water is 0.5 your e.c in total should be 1.7 - remeber to check the e.c of the water before you add nutes to it!
