you may be on to something, i had no idea we had a high crime rate, hell i don't even lock my doors normally.

i got no problem being paid more and getting more time off, i just don;t want to be "required" to join a club and pay them fight with my boss over it. There seems to be a lot of $ being wasted on the middle man.

PS: i looked up the towns that i have lived in on the site you linked and can now understand why i feel so sheltered, its because i always have been.... the rates for the towns i have lived in are barely even visible beside the NC and national averages.

You are not required to join a Union in a Union shop.
You are required to pay dues that constitute what the Union spends on representing you. Because by law you have all the benefits of a Union without being in one. And by Law they have to defend you if you have any greivances.

I have a theory on why this passed in Michigan,

Michigan being one of the states with the highest un-employment wanted to save every job they could. so by getting rid of this Union's only deal will save a few jobs.

ONLY reason Michigan passed this ALEC sponsored bill is to attack Democratic support. Unions support Pro Labor candidates who happen to be democrat for the most part. And Unions also help Get Out The Vote. This is just one of the tools the Republicans use to game the vote. The other being redrawing congressional districts and voter suppression

republicans redraw districts to suppress the vote...

well see im here in california, where the legislature has been solid democrat since california entered the union, and yet we just had to pass a ballot initiative (against massive legislature opposition) to create a citizen redistricting commission since the DEMOCRATS had fucked the districts up so bad they were unworkable.

democrats suppress the vote far more effectively than the republicans ever could round here, by moving polling places like a 3 card monte game, re-registering people in different parties without their consent, canvassing neighborhoods asking for particular voters by name, and attempting to "Out" anyone who contributes to a cause deemed poltically incorrect.

but nahhh.. thats all the republicans.
