Upgraded from rubbermaid to cabinet

Hey everybody, here is my new set-up. Opinions welcome . I decided to change from my old rubbermaid setup for several reasons:

1. Constantly having to break down and put back up just to get at plants
2. Never exactly sure how high above the plant the lights are
3. I fecked up the paint when I used two spray cans meant for plastic and the final coat was normal spray paint. This caused the paint to lose cohesion and has been chipping off ever since
4. Size, I always wanted separate veg/flower chambers.
5. Light, my rubbermaid glowing like radioactive waste

Okay so here is my setup. I bought a pantry type cabinet from Walmart for 75 bucks. I added some bracing for extra structural rigidity on the flimsy cardboard back, and painted with a flat white paint.

I just set-up the flowering chamber for now, as I had to have it ready to switch my girl (day 36 flowering) from the rubbermaid. I have two approx 35 cfm fans both as exhaust, and one passive intact.

I will need to work a bit on light proofing, anyone have any ideas on how to lightproof the computer fans?

I have the light source at the top right beside the fans so hot air is immediately removed. My thermo is reading 32C right beside the lights (literally sitting on top of one of the y-splitters) so down at canopy level it should be lower.

2x 42 w 6500, 2x 42w 2700, 4x 30w 2700k cfl lighting

Anyone care to comment? Any ideas on how to lightproof pc fans?

Awesome lightsource there m8. Looks like the sun busting out up there. To lightproof your fans its easiest to just throw some dryer ducting ducttaped to the exterior in the back. Darkrooms used for making photos use a series of panels to stop the light from going through the door while still allowing ventilation, you could do a setup like that, but you could reduce your airflow that way. Take some dryer ducting and strap it to the back and make it do some S turns around the back side. That will give you the best airflow out while stopping any light from penetrating out to stealth it up a bit. If you used insulated ducting that will also reduce the noise the fans make.

Thanks man, I took your advice and put venting on the fans, stopped all light leaks from them.

So here are some upgrades to my cabinet. I still have to place the ducting in the veg area, but am waiting for the caulking on the fan to dry. I also may need to add one more (or just get bigger radius) passive intact for the flowering area. I notice that the fans labour a bit more when I shut the doors, so I assume there isn't enough passive intake for the fans.

I added 2x 23W 6500k 1X23W 4200?K and 1X 15W 2700k in my little veg area. Should be enough to get the plants going before switching to flowering. I have added one more passive intact to the flowering since the first pics. Finally to make getting to the back of the cab easier I added a platform with wheels and attached it the the cab.

Anyways here is my cabinet now. Any comments on places to improve?

upgrading is nice- as far as light proof the pc fans-----I do research for rep,

you could even take that "basic" idea and tweak it to make it better for your application

Looks great. Simple design, yet seems to be producing quite the buds Some people chose very elaborate designs, but why when on the cheap this works great! What are you growing in there?

NICE SET-UP. I HAVE A LITTLE CABINET LIKE THAT THAT, USING CFL'S ALSO MY BUDS ARE NOT THAT BIG YET. hOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN FLOWING?

Thanks man, I was trying to keep it clean on the inside, no wires going everywhere and lights all strung up. I am growing a white widow cross called sugar blossum, from Joey Weed. Just harvested, check out my journal for pics.

I may need more lighting in my veg area, but will see how it works.

Thanks, she was flowering for 7 weeks in that pic. She matured much faster than my last grow, probably due to higher temps in summer vs winter in the basement.
