This is very urgent. i am in dire need of some quicl CFL's

I was going to go to Home Depot and just buy the 26w ones, and get like 12 of them until my HPS light gets in the mail
But i was wondering, What do i need EXACTLY

so i cna get all the CFL's on a Surge Protector hanging over the plants.

i've seen it done before, just not sure what equipment was needed.
It looks like two cfl's plugged into a y splitter and plugged into the surge protector.
If anyone can tell me what i need to buy i would appreciate this very much!!!
Thank You.
Will +Rep!! i really need the answer

I recall reading some information on specific CFL bulbs, but as I recall the ones Lowe'sdown carries don't have the pertinent information (that is what color spectrum they are). So, if you're hitting Home Despot, get the CFLs that are described as warm white, and the brighter the better (you want more LUMENS or LUX). The color temperature itself, if you can find that information, that best duplicates sunlight is about 5,000 Kelvin, but I do recall that folks have good luck with the 6,500K CFLs. Those that are in the 2,000-3,000K range are a bit blue. If you're unsure, then mix warm and cool white with daylight bulbs.

I grow outdoors, so lighting is not an issue for me, but I have grown corals, anemones, and other photosynthetic organisms. Underwater.

ok thanks! and do you knwo what thigns i need to set it up
ie. y splitter etc?
the way i wanted to rig it was hang a power surge over the lights and have them all plugged into the surge and have the surge running into a plug in wall

Have you checked out the CFL forum for this information first? I don't know how exactly you plan to wire it, nor do I know anything about your grow room. I've got the damn book, but I have to reboot into Windows to use the scanner.

go to home depot ask where the y-sockets are..."the thing that you can plug two light bulbs into"....the things you are looking for will be in the same area. should be same wall....its a plug that has a light socket in the end. you plug it strait into a surge protector and just screw the light in... if they are not there just tell someone what your looking for and tell them you have a small attic and you only have one power outlet and your looking to get some light up there...they will know what your looking for hope this helps

at home depot, there in the same aisl as the power strips, clip lights, plugs, and switches. ddthere adapters that plug straight into an electrical outlet, and y-splitters that you can plug into those...

For cfl's, get "daylight" for veg, and "soft white" for flower.

I was just at home depot and I can buy 2 150w softwhite CFL , 2 120w
brightwhite CFL, and 3 100wDaylight CFL
Whiich is 840w of CFL
Which I'm thinking is more than enough?
If I get all those bulbs I could have them all on at the same time?

do i need those 3 types?

if i got all of those that i listed it wouuld only come to like $60..
or was i looking at the wrong lights?

CFL - 6,500K = veg
CFL - 2,700k = flowering

the hole thing is that you want the bulb that has the most lumes per watt and there are bulbs that are inbetween 6,500k and 2,700k

well if you know what the braker tripping point is and what you use on a daily basses I found that I can max out at 200w at most, if you can do more then do so , as for the lights you can have at least 9 bulbs per 9 socket power bar

really only 200w ber socket... so how do people do 400 w and 600w 1000 watt hps bulbs if ur maxing at 200?
if i only needed 2 typed of bulbs i was probably goign to buy 2 power strips, and put veg on 1 and flowering on another and keep them both going maybe like 300watts of each one..

if you realy want to get a diffrent lighting system going for veg put all the lights on their own timers so when it hits a certin time 1 light turns off and 5 mints later a light that was off turns on

what i wanted was two power strips 1 strip with the vegging lights a
and 1 with the flowering lights.. and i wanted them both on 18-6
with a timer.. but just both of them on for the extra lumens
and during veg stage just have the veg lights more focused on the plants. and the flowering 1's a little higher
then vice versa during flower stage

what is that exactly? grow light combo?
I'm very new to growing so I don't know what exacly the veg and flowering grow lights are , I'm using CFL for now but people use '' grow lights '' for veg and flowering but using CFL could help make a diffrents since they can be placed cloer to the plant with out burning them
