less and less dialogue is about policy. "Trumps a fascist and Hillary is a liar!" Something like that is all we see right now, it's not just on RIU and I'm not any different. Some people on this site are celebrating cops beating protesters while others are saying see, I told you so.. Daaamn, does it feel like we are back in the 60's or what?
Paddy and Ty are left high and dry because they actually want to talk policy. Chump followers shout "Rapist Bill" or Hillary zombies drone a chant of "vote Hillary because she won". This is going to be a long summer.

Agree with all you said. This is exactly what I'm looking to have answered over the next few months. Also, caving in and giving up will provide zero impetus for that kind of movement by Hillary and most importantly, Democratic Congressmen, to include the people who look to Bernie as the leader of the day.
@ChesusRice , the election isn't happening tomorrow and there is time to work things out. I'm of the same mind as Ty and Paddy, I need to be convinced that Hillary will move the country away from the control of big capital and towards a better future than the one she has proposed thus far. I see some movement already but not enough.

I'm of the opinion that her spots won't change. Whatever she promises, her ties of vassalage to Big Finance are as clear as they are binding.

OK, maybe I'm playing the what if game too much.
What I see happening is Bernie working with the party leadership, not just Hillary, to put in place a check to prevent her presidency from becoming just another round of status quo. Nobody gets everything they want. Some of the things that Bernie campaigned on and that we voted for will be included. Face it, not everything Bernie campaigned on was going to happen if Bernie had won. Bernie lost but he's working to incorporate some of his platform in the government going forward. And he'll still be around in the Senate with his support intact.
Also, have you noticed he's starting to campaign for other Congressmen? He's carrying a big stick right now and he's using it. After all these years in Congress, he knows how to work the system.

Jeff Sessions, Mitch McConnell and the rest of the right wing gangsters have been keeping Mr Sanders in check for decades, because they have the money- given to them by the grateful corporations they have sold our democracy out to.

The fight is NOW. The problem is that I don't see others having any urgency. This is why I think the country needs a jolt if we don't get Mr Sanders in the oval office.
Or, option B; don't fight the oligarchs; become one.

Bernie has a lot more clout today than a year ago. We do need a Democratically controlled Senate and Presidency for anything of his to make it through the Washington sausage factory.
I still don't understand why you talk as if Bernie is still an option as a presidential candidate. He has about as much of a chance of winning the nomination or winning as an independent as you do winning the lottery. Not saying you won't but it's nothing to put your financial plans on.

Seriously? Incrementalism is what has brought this nation to the notion that someone as conservative as Reagan is now seen as a serious 'progressive' alternative to nationalist, fascist conservatism.

Seriously. Haven't you read anything I've written? You might reject it as untrue but you can't say that's not what I think. Hillary isn't the end of all democracy in this country and Bernie is having a beneficial effect to pull the party to the center. . Not even Trump will end democracy in this country, but I'm willing to hedge that with the question, who can say anything about Trump?

The time for rhetoric and living up to promises is over; it's all about strings now, strings of money. Mr Obama captured the nation with his rhetoric but that didn't stop the rightward list of the ship of state. We're in danger of capsizing.
I'm not telling you that you can't think what you like, I'm trying to say that the time for incrementalism is over. It's too late, and it's been going all the wrong way anyway.

Seems to me when there is any drift to the left you guys tend to invade someone for something and that captures the media's attention (and lines the pockets of the rich whilst the low and middle classes go and get shot at).
Thinking about it that also seems to be the answer/action/reaction on your unemployment and economy problems to.. Its damn unpatriotic to say anything at all against the govt after they have invaded a country that has oil for some reason or another.

Not on topic but Most 1st world countries have a highly paid defense force. Its very hard to get into and the pay an pensions are very nice- its a trade and pays like one. It seems to be a low paying job in the US. Which may explain all the "thankyou for your service" that is always on American sites/media but is not present in other countries where the defense forces are paid an above award wage with great pensions etc. (8-10 years service here and you can retire for life or chose to receive your tax free pension and work). Granted most 1st world countries dont have the sheer number of troops you guys do.
