Wood ash is about 4% potassium, 2% phosphorous average. Control is an issue. I see no benefit compared to the risk of over or underapplying.

i have used it, did 1 tbsp in a glass of water to dissolve, them mixed with a half gallon of water to dilute
no harm, didn't see any benefit either, but i use molasses based teas through my grows which has a good amount of potassium
so was probably already well topped off with potassium

I have a book called the complete garden guide and it says this.

Wood Ashes (leached.
Function= Amendment/fertilizer. raises ph. Provides potassium, calcium
Application rate= 2 lbs./100 sq. ft.
Comments= Keep stored wood ashes dry to prevent nutrients from leaching out.
When using as a side dressing, keep 2 to 3 inches away from plant stems.

Note this is not a marijuana specific book.

I`m wondering how to leach it. If anyone knows it would help.
I also just read somewhere that coming from a wood burning stove it could be tainted with metal
