I just cant support much led data, they are limited even with these full spectrums. Too many years of twisting data with no real results. Cmh has made them redundant in many big growshops here, dont even stock them anymore and have disclaimers saying that they lied in the first place.

Would you choose led over cmh at the prices they charge anyway.

Fingers crossed cmh lives up to the hype, looks good initially, when i replace mt hps thats my first choice :-)

I wouldn’t choose them. I said the university is testing very different tech than the light peddlers here are pushing. Cobs are parking lot and warehouse lights. I still beat the yield and by the looks of many led Grows the quality with hps alone even.

I know it’s all bullshit.

But technology is advancing. The university of Michigan just got done a few years ago proving Metal Halide had no benefit over hps. They proved lumens is the biggest factor and that plants transfer photosynthesis to the strongest light wave.

But they are going deeper now. And professional led plant lighting is very expensive and always discreet low watt individual colored diodes.

The cobs, strips and qb’s are only found on weed forums. I have never seen any in a large Grow or Greenhouse. Except in the parking lot. Those new street lights are cobs. Lol.

All the local greenhouses I have visited have hps or old metal halides for supplemental lighting.

I have. I did a couple runs of the stock 3000k, a couple runs with stock 6500k and then mixed spectrum.

In my opinion I prefer pot grown with mixed spectrum with uv. My next favorite was the all 6500k though it lacked some yield. The 3000k did better as far as yield but I didn't prefer it.

I don't sell but I smoke with friends and give a little bud away here and there. Their comments led me to believe they liked the mixed spectrum better as well.

Thanks. Maybe the t-5 red bulbs are more red specific than the extended range hps? The companies do suggest mixing bulbs for best results.

I am using Hortilux super hps rather than just old hps type. Maybe they have enough blue included to give perceivable results by themselves.

The university of Utah suggests a 50/50 mix or basically sunlight spectrum for best plant health but that ratio makes very leafy buds so more red in flower is where I landed.

Different plant types do better under different spectrums. Leafy greens need more blue. Flowers and fruits need more red for best results. This is what the U of M is testing.

But I like the natural looking light so I just rotate the plants to get their share of both so they can benefit from all.

They also sell these uvb kits for central heating & a/c ducting.

It is known to improve on the air quality when applied correctly..

I have installed countless UVB systems for customer's and can truly say it works..
Is this what they have at restaurants and grocery stores near the entrances? It looks like a light blue light. They have them usua;lly like a sconce pointing the light up so people are not exposed to it.

I will also say that for small grows for personal use I love mixed spectrum t5 over anything else.

I'm tired of paying to switch out bulbs every six months.

I'm running a couple different leds. One has cree and osram diodes. Mix of red white and blue. Exellent growth under it. I also have a citizen cob light. It does well though I find the plants need heat in the cold months. Those cobs run room temp.

The best setup for my needs will end up being a mix of cobs and a couple t5 bulbs or a mix of cobs and diodes. There is one company that makes a cob and diode light but they are costly.

Dear haters. Regarding your recent replies to my post...

CMH being required for greater potency: CMH does look promising, I'm planning to pick one up, along with a ceramic HPS and a COB LED so I can give them all a shot and put this shit to rest for myself. It's true that metal halide as well as CMH produce some UV, but I've yet to come across anyone besides you claiming they are the only source of effective UV.

LED's are trash: I've got all I want for me and the wife and plenty to share with friends with about 500 kwh total per grow in an organic soil medium. Works for me, way cheaper than buying it and way more fun. Anyway, the plan is to try different types of lighting for myself and see what works. All I can find for info about LED/HID comparison is trash talking and paid product placement by manufacturers. Actually, that's true for pretty much all the info out there on every topic related to cannabis growing: Sturgeon's law in full effect (9/10ths of everything is crap). I suppose LED manufacturers have it coming for exaggerating light footprints by 2-3x and saying you can grow twice as much with 1/2 the watts (both bullshit).

LED's aren't full spectrum/without full spectrum UV is useless: white diodes. Also, reptile bulbs have way more green than any other spectrum, so there's that.

Request to stop the shit talking and cock measuring being met with shit talking and cock measuring: predictable. Haters gonna hate, though I'll never understand why we waste precious moments of our fleeting lives making ourselves and others miserable. Best with that, I'll leave you to it. If you get tired of it and want to learn and to share what you've learned, come find me, that's what I'm about.

Finally, a general appeal: anyone found any forums that aren't rife with all this bs? I grow weary of sorting through these mountains of "push me, shove you, oh yeah, says who?" looking for tidbits of knowledge.

Peace
B.D.

There are some more exspensive phosphor coatings for t5's, wiki has a list of them somewhere. Reason why many aquarium keepers pay like five times more for their tubes. These phosphurs are damn close to a lot of sunlights spectrums. Cheap t5's arent quite the same product. Here is that sunlight full spectrum in action again.

Leds are great but hps growers have been topping leds for a long time so unlike my lovely t5's its hard to shell out five times the cost for the same amount of bud. Im not sure if their spectrum stays stable as they age either.

T5's though, simply awesome :-)

I was using the good bulbs from Agromax. Affordable and last longer than the cheap ones.

Hortilux makes t5 bulbs now by around 25 bucks a piece. Probably good bulbs though.

Dont hate anything or anyone but after a zillion threads most have reached a consensus and simply throwing uv at a plant never proved anything plus we are in a very technological age i think its fair to dismiss all the things that never worked and that never got site approval. If you find somthing differrent simply show and tel and we will all dive in.

What ive witnessed is the closer you come to the sun the more dank your bud is.

Thanks for the heads up on low heat with the COB's. I actually need the heat 'cause I run indoors only in winter and we set our heat at 68, so without a bump from the lights I'd be pretty haggard.

Check the made in china wholesale websites for the mixed COB/diode lights. You can get them for about 1/2 the cost of retail.

Dude! Mellow out! You remind me of me this week.
There was no real hate between your posts that I noticed, maybe one tiny dig. That's what did me in last week but I'm delusional.
Wish I could ask the ADM to lock me out of the LED section. My life for the next 3 months would have been much better had I not got triggered there again.

What haters? Everyone in this thread is honestly sharing info and experience.

And if you are seeking knowledge on horticultural light spectrums the universities I mentioned have done tons of testing.

Here is a reprint that shows how much of each type of light different sources supply from the u of Utah. Reprinted on the cycloptics greenbeams cmh Website.

They have deemed cmh the most complete source for plant growth. But the u of Michigan is going further with specific crop testing for specific wavelengths. It won’t be long before we have the info for our medical plants.

I believe the reason Gavita made the LEP, was to more resemble the sun, and they recommend 1 per 1000w Gavita.

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure CMH surpasses LEP, and is MUCH CHEAPER.

They also make a DE 1000w CMH

I'm good with the product placement kids. I'll be doing my own trials.

These forums are like watching Louis Farrakan preach. I'm all like "Yeah, preach brother. Right on. Alright! Wait... did that motherfucker just say what I thought he said? Oh Louis, why'd you have to go and fuck up a good thing by saying some crazy shit like that?" Breaks my heart that I can finally grow the sacred herb I love out in the open for me and mine, totally legal, and there's this whole culture emerging, and it's... oh fuck, corporate America and venture capital are tearing it to shreds like a pack of wild hyenas. Fuck me.

Oh well, at least I've got the plants. I've learned more from them than any forum or grow guide.

For example.... down below me is an ad for a multi-thousand dollar grow tent. I've seen the cocksuckers trying to push these things in grow forums and online reviews, all "dude, the cheap tents leak light. Hermaphrodites!!! You gotta spend at least 5x that to get a decent tent". Bullshit. My outdoor grow is in my motherfucking front yard. In front of a 20x4 bay of windows. We left the lights on all hours of the night. 0 hermaphrodites. Why? CAUSE THE MOTHERFUCKING MOON IS BRIGHTER THAN THE LIGHTS IN MY WINDOWS! THEY EVOLVED TO FLOWER WITH LOW AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND. Don't believe the hype y'all. Alright, I'm done with my vent about the sorry state of weed culture. Aside from being able to grow in the front yard, I sort of miss it being illegal. Granted, that's a big aside. I'm out.

I've learned a couple other things about LED's in my studies aside from the manufacturers also being full of shit with their claims of light footprint size and replacing HID lights 2x their wattage. Oh wait, I guess those other tidbits of info are also about those manufacturers being full of shit. The "premium" lights are just a huge upcharge over the cost of Chinese LED's for the most part (I'm talking the good ones, not the red and blue 1/2 watt diode shit, and no, I'm not naming brands. Look for 5 watt or higher chipped to 3 or higher to get decent penetration, secondary lenses, full spectrum, and infrared. Forget the UV, they are worthless in LED's, though the don't hurt anything either other than burning out the plastic lenses and getting even more useless over time), and you can buy most of the Chinese made LED's at wholesale prices on Chinese wholesaling websites. Google "China wholesale LED grow light" and see where that gets you. You're welcome.

For that matter, you can probably find a lot of your grow hardware on these sites. Tell the cocksuckers at HTG and Amazon to get fucked, and get the same shit for half the price direct. Put the money the rich fucks who own these companies want to steal from you to better use.

Fuck, now I'm all worked up. Time to go burn one and hang with the plants.
