Vacuum Chamber advice needed ASAP

Hey guys I'm in SE Michigan and I'm hoping to scoop up a reasonably priced vacuum chamber for purging out the extra tane from my BHO somewhere locally. I know your not here in MI necessarily, but thinking someone can point me in the right direction as far as what kinds of places would carry such an item. Not looking for fancy, just basic but gets the job done is good with me.

Thanks everyone, DS

Science and lab equipment, a dessicator. I think you may as well buy one online since you'll be having a hard time finding a store with one in stock.

I don't know that it matters that much but polycarbonate dessicators are said to not be used with organic solvents, butane is just that . I'm sure it would work and possibly forever but not sure.

Interesting, I was wondering about the material also... I see a nice glass one also.... for double the price :wall:

This may be a solution... http://www.amazon.com/Glass-Vacuum-Desiccator-8-210mm/dp/B002WD6VLK/ref=sr_1_7?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1342144844&sr=1-7&keywords=vacuum+desiccator

that was one of the first glass ones I looked at, I still haven't bought one yet myself. The thing that turned me off about that glass one is the top fitting where the vacuum hooks up, appears replaceable though so breakage may not put it totally out of commission. If you've looked at some of those pyrex ones those are real pricey, like 6 bills or so.

Well that's interesting... I saw a couple videos on You Tube with people using that Nalgene one right there I'm pretty sure... Maybe the tane won't affect it? I didn't want to mess with that one based solely on its price tag. Could probably be up and running for about $240 so I wouldn't want to more than double the price of my chamber, if anything I would feel more inclined to buy a nicer pump and the cheaper chamber. Still haven't pulled the trigger, have you ordered any of this stuff yet?

over time (probably quite a bit of it) the solvent may degrade the PC but who knows till an implosion, I like that one myself and the fat vacuum pump. I haven't ordered but soon may.

I ended up ordering all that stuff for about $330 and it's clutch for the purge. It gets vacuum to 28Hg pretty easy.

Just FYI I bought the same pump from the same retailer and mine arrived leaking pump oil, and when I started it up it spewed crazy amounts of fumes. And when left on for 2 minutes there was literally oil all over the unit, and the ground around it. I had no experience with vacuum units so I thought it was me, but the oil level was low and I filled the right ports. It was just a faulty pump, I had to RMA to get my $150 back. Some people have the same pump though and it works well for them just a heads up.

After I RMAd I found this pump which I'm pretty convinced is the best pump for the money..
http://www.harborfreight.com/two-stage-3-cfm-air-vacuum-pump-66466.html

I bought it at a local harbor freight (think home depot) store, and visually inspected the unit before purchase. Took it home and haven't had issues since. I bought the $20 2 year warranty for insurance but don't think I'll need it.. I've done 25 + sets of purges with no issues.

As far as the desiccator.. It looks pretty solid.. I use this one http://www.opticsplanet.com/nalge-nunc-vacuum-chambers-nalgene-5305-0609.html and it's pretty cozy for a half oz of oil +..

As far as butane degrading the polycarbonate.. I've had no such issues. Once you get to the vacuum process you have minimal amounts of butane, that are released with low pressure.. And pulled out the chamber into the vacuum.. I don't think the polycarbonate is exposed with enough butane, for a long enough period to have any noticeable effects. The chambers are pretty thick.

Come on over to the https://www.rollitup.org/concentrates-extracts/472288-sr-verdes-concentrate-corner-59.html .. We've been discussing vacuums and vacuum pumps for a few pages now..
