Vacuum Purging?

So the first time a made a butane oil extract I used heat and whipped my oil and got a hard candy like material most people refer to as amber glass. I got about a gram from a couple small runs. The concentrate was bomb, it lasted forever because it got me so high. I am getting a lb of shake in the near future and wanted to make the best and cleanest concentrate possible. I was wondering if the vacuum purging is worth the extra time and money? What is the difference between whipping you're oil to refine it compared to purging it? Any help is appreciated.

Also I was reading up on coffee filters and how they are 15-30 microns. I read it was better to have pressure building up because "Pressure raises the boiling point of butane. Under pressure butane is a liquid at a higher temperature than at atmospheric pressure. With increasing temperature, solvent power increases, it works faster and wider."

I have also heard of people putting two coffee filters instead of one and getting trim blown everywhere because of too much pressure. Do you guys have any knowledge from past experiences to share?

Always vacuum purge, it ensures that you're getting out ALL the solvents, you can never FULLY get all the lingering butane out by just whipping.

Also butane stays liquid already anywhere below 32F keep these cold temps and your butane will stay liquid, if you're doing the tube extraction then yes two filters should be better than one to give the butane as much contact time with the flower material as possible.

Even after vacuum purging you're not always getting all the solvent out. Vac purge then cook and it should get them to such trace amounts that it doesn't really matter.

If it was just butane, yes, you can get almost all of it out in a purge, but there are other things in those cans with higher evap points.

Also, vac purge, heat, vac purge again never hurt anyways.

I use a 4 gallon vac chamber with a large electric skillet under it keeping it at 140-150 until no bubbles cools to a beautiful shatter

Well the run went pretty good, got about a gram from 20 g's of mid grade bud and shake. I learned that the more i packed it the bigger of a yield I got. I researched this and supposedly butane reaches a higher temperature under pressure. Although I was worried if I packed it too tight I would wind up blowing the shake through the coffee filters from too much pressure. But luckily that didn't happen. Thanks for the advice guys.

I am going to have my next couple batches of BHO tested. I want to be sure my purging methods are working. I am going to do 3 seperate runs and have them tested for contaminants. 1) no purge at all. 2) heat purged 3) vac. purged. I will post my rersults when complete. I will do it within the next week or so. I'll post results in the concentrates thread. I just want to end the controversy surrounding this topic.
