valueline 6 inch fan speed control?

i about to head to home depot/ fuck i do love paydays! I have a valueline 6 inch line fan that i need to slow down. I was thinking some kind of speed control. i was wondering if their was any suggestions? i am clueless adn could use some advice. i looked up an old post but it was for dc motors. also waht the hell else ia an inline fan used for becasue if they ask like the girl at the aquarium store did what the product is for and why i dont wanna have to look like a dumbfuvk and fake a hardon to escape, lol/kiss-ass

As long as you're already headed to Home Depot, look for cieling fan speed controls or light dimmer switches. There are several different kinds - some will work, some wont - just read over the boxes carefully, you should be able to find the right one.

It's not a clever idea to use a light dimmer to slow down a fan, i thought the same thing when I started coming on this site and got told by quite a few members it's a bad idea.

Oops! Now that you mention it, I recall hearing about a problem. But aren't there at least 2 different types of dimmers? One for resistive loads and one for inductive loads - something like that?

Anyway - forget about light dimmers unless you know what you're doing! But cieling fan speed controls should be a cheap fix.

I figure you gotta use the right stuff for the right equipment, you could end up burning the place down or something haha.

it is daunting at first but it stillcan be heard thru the closed door and i wanna run it eventually with the door open orwith peepsin apt. mine runs thru a vented hood out thru the roof of the tent thru a duct reducer fan and then the valuline itself then a 6 inch grobirte filter. i alternate the between the duct reducer at night and valuline inthe day becasue it cools off a lot at night. If i cover the fan towles and blankets for now, gotta get a eggcrate, it sounds like a loud air conditioner. I still working with setup.

i got a lightswitch dimmer for 5 dollars at hd as i herd soemthing in that price range ould work. It said 600 watt 120 volt ac 60hz so i fig it would work. after i got home i read all this,lol. Ohwell. Idid hookupmy 150watt econolight.sorryspacebarisbreaking.lol.uknowanythingabout wiring?

Yeah, the ceiling fan 'dimmers' might work. I tried one on my ceiling fan and it didn't work for squat.

Ones that do work, aren't doing it correctly. You will probably shorten the life of the motor (not a ton, but maybe 10-25%)

AC motors that are made for speed control are pricey, and the controls even more so.
