Variegated Seedling

bongsmilieGreetings all,
I am the proud grower of a mystery seed from Nirvana. It has turned out to be a mystery-it is completely variegated. Other seedlings in the same soil are normal,so it's not a nute problem. Any ideas as to what's going on here? I wrote Nirvana, but they had no answer-they are perplexed as well. Thanks to all of you with ideas.

Wow, I just found a pic on the net of what you're talking about. I never knew this could happen in cannabis.

Could you post a pic please??

How do you not know what the strain is? Was it in a mix pack or something?

Need to see a pic to make sure it's actually variegation (which is rare as hell) or just some other malady. If it IS variegation apparently it depends on how extreme it is as to whether the plant will even live or not. If it looks straight albino then it's going to die as it can't live without any chlorophyll in the leaves to produce sugars for the plant. If it's like 50/50 white and green then it should live just fine only grow slower and maybe a little jacked-up since it only has 50% of the chlorophyll it really needs to thrive.

Natural variegations occur in seedlings of hybrid seed occasionally. In the ornamental industry this is a plus and leads to many different varieties for sale. In MJ this is not a good trait because these creamy or white sections of the leaf are not producing any chlorophyll, so the plant will not grow as vigorous as a completely green leaf. Sometimes the plant will outgrow this trait when it grow older and genetic drift will return the leaves to solid green. With proper fertilizing and growing this will still reach maturity and bloom and if it stays variegated you might get some interesting looking flowers.
