damn neighbors :fire: well at least you found it, i would have went out side and played toss the open bottle of bleach with the kids until "OOOPS, it slipped"" right over into the neighbors cess pool!!! everything else looks good though, so at least you can focus on cleaning and bugs.

Wow is that a fucked up pool of grossness. I see three ways to handle it. Sneaky stealth qt. of bleach dead of night. Call city complaining of children bitten by the mosquito's. Talk to her and see if that does it.
I know I'd be Ninja Guy with a water bottle of bleach about 3 am. Depends on any relations from earlier interactions too. If you talk to her and she ignores it, then you get blamed for actually fixing it.

Nice dude, Lookin good, I noticed you washed your hydroton and soaked it in pH 5.0 water. That's not needed, its rockwool that needs to soak. Especially if you rinse it with tap afterwords, thats kinda redundant don't you think? Your gonna soak that rockwool with high pH tap water. Besides the chloramines in the water isn't gonna help any. What I would recommended is to Wash off the dust off the hydroton with tap, dont do that final rinse under the tap but use some r/o ph 5.7 and only hit the hydroton leaving some air in the rockwool cube. I think it will be faster and give the girls a better start.

As soon as those roots hit the water they are gonna explode man.
Yeah the mold is what freaked me out. Normally I would have done an initial flush of chlorine treated pH water through the rock wool to get rid of whatever stuff the dispensary has been feeding them so it doesn't mix in with my fresh nute solution (putting them under a running tap is not my standard procedure). If the chloramines in the tap don't give any quick benefit for mold then I'll just stick with the standard protocol. :)

I know I may be going overboard a bit. But I'm taking a bit of advice I read from Al B. Fuct "If you ever find a grow thread that works perfectly, then duplicate it step for step." I ran across this Blog:

420 Magazine - Deep Water Culture Tutorial, SH Kit & DIY

I'm not taking everything as gospel but 95% of what this guys says makes logical sense to me and not only does his shit not die, it thrives very well! Everything I've changed about the way I have grown since November is due to making this article my "base line" of knowledge and then compare this to other articles I read to fine tune. Lastly I like this tutorial because he clearly states "I'm not an expert, but I am a successful grower, here is what works for ME, here is what I have read, here is how I do it, if you like what you see, give it a shot."

So far none of the advice I've taken has done harm, and in fact it has done wonders for my plant health and my self-confidence. As I develop my own growing style, I may venture away from being so careful, as I listen to the advice of other experienced growers such as yourself. :)

Well she's out of town for a couple of days. I talked to a few of the neighbors and told them about the issue and they all agreed I should take care of the problem. A cup of bleach (it's all I had left) and then a sprayed the entire perimeter of the jacuzzi (maybe a little bit got in the water too). ;) Then sprayed along the side of my house (zero lot-line so my garage exterior wall is "in" her yard) and sprayed even more around the exterior of the lower vent and upper vent.

I love that Neem oil trick. Neem oil remains tacky even after the water evaporates. There were still a few living bugs that were stuck! :fire: They are still alive and suffering!!

Sounds like a good start. I found some Spider Mites on one of my flowering clones. Never ending battle. I sprayed it good, then Neem Oil misted everything in the whole room. Sulfur Burning tonight, Dr. Doom spray in the morning then we get the Floramite out. Caught it early, but still WTF. Thought I won.

glad you didnt have to wait for her to get back, those little fuckers are mean!!!
Just call me the "Obi Wan Kenobi" of the neighborhood.

Just walked up to my neighbors to say "Hi" and then "Gee, your plants don't look so good. Maybe I should go take care of the bugs growing in <so and so's> jacuzzi that are eating up the roots of the plants in your yard". And then I hear back "Fuck yeah, go dump a gallon in there!!!"

Ahh the power of suggestion!!!  :blsmoke:

sorry to tell you your not very good at this i do better with a clone and a peat pellet you are trying to do to much for a little ass clipping.
So today I did all the spray shit, looked in on the girls, all is well, went out and helped the wife in the yard. That made me realize just how tired my body is after the effort put in this past week. So I took the rest of the day off from construction, building, creating, etc.

Instead I put on my sunglasses, took some big ole hits, and went and actually "looked" at my girls in the middle cabinet. I've been so busy doing shit, while snapping random pictures along the way, cropping and posting them up, that I'm almost 100% certain all of you have studied my plants far more than I have!!!

So this afternoon I stopped and "smelled the pot". I studied them, plucked away all the dead shit, groomed them, and just plain enjoyed them!!!!

While looking at my girls I remembered this post, that I just decided to "brush off and let go" of except for one comment I made.

So a retrospective of Skywalker OG #1

12/15/2010 - A day or so after coming home

12/21/2010 - Trouble in river city. Time to put on my thinking cap as well as ask for help from my pals here on RIU

1/22/2010 - 5 weeks of vegging from the day she came home, 2 weeks approaching death and 3 weeks to get back to this

Not only that but I just realized that my FIM experiment on her resulted in 4 branching stems off of the main stem, two stems under the screen wire and two stems just above the wire!!!

So given that, and the fact that they can all fall over dead tomorrow, today I decided to cash in one of my A$$HOLE chits and give a flying salute!

:finger::finger::finger::finger:

You know you deserve it dude!

Christmas is over. She was knocked down too many times due to high winds. Low humidity and 10 hours out of the water bucket twice. I'll cut, cure and she'll make a nice fire in the fire pit in a month or so.

So a bit about F-13. I think it's interesting that the Mother Strain Flo is the same strain as the picture in my opening post for this thread!! I'm excited to be growing this strain and hopefully it does well in my setup.

Kind Green Buds - F13 Strain Guide

F-13
[DJ Short]

Sativa 60 / Indica 40
Origins - Flo x Blueberry
Flowering - 55-65 days
Harvest - Late September

F-13 is a top quality connoisseur variety developed with the indoor soil grower in mind. Even so, it adapts well to hydroponic systems, performing especially well in organic-based aquaponic or aeroponic setups. It has also been tested in outdoor gardens at 45 degrees north lattitude, where it performed well.

The parents of F-13 are a dynamic duo from DJ Short's Delta-9 Blue Collection. The mother strain, Flo, is an early maturing sativa/indica hybrid with the unique ability to produce a continuous harvest of tight spear-shaped buds. Her buzz is energetic and extremely clearheaded, a true "wake and bake" pot with a flowery smell and fruity undertones in the flavor. The Blueberry father is a superstar of connoisseur cannabis known for its cool blue hues and signature blueberry taste, along with its long lasting, euphoric high.

In F-13, this combination results in a slightly sativa-dominant hybrid that branches into a medium-sized, bushy plant, especially when topped. Her thin, sativa-like leaves are dark green, often developing red and lavender hues as she matures. F-13 thrives on organic nutrients with plenty of good worm castings and bat guano. Keep other feeding light, especially where nitrogen is concerned.

F-13 finishes in approximately 8-9 weeks indoors with a yield between 1-2 ounces per square foot when the light input is at least 50 watts per square foot. Another measure of expected yield is 1 gram per watt of light when conditions are optimal. In outdoor grows, harvest is in late September to mid or late October depending on the latitude.

This hybrid forms tight, elongated spear- or spade-shaped buds that release a sweet musky odor while growing. The high is a creeper that takes between 20 minutes and an hour to reach its peak. The refreshing quality of the high is comfortable yet awake, making it weel suited for social situations. F-13 is a lucid and truly enjoyable daytime smoke that tapers off into a dreamy feeling. Overall this variety is very motivational when used in moderation. It retains the flavors of fruit and flower that are signatures of DJ's Blue strains, making it a good choice for any flavor connoisseur.

Well I can't find anything specific to F-13. But here's a write-up on the two crosses, Flo x Blueberry. It's making my mouth water just reading about it!!

Blueberry

Flowering : 45-55 days
Height : 0.7-1 meter

We developed Blueberry from different new genetic lines, genetics that are unique to Europe.
Not only Blueberry, but also Blue Velvet and Flo are developed from totally new genetics.
These seed strains are of the highest quality and have not been grown in Europe before.
Blueberry is a mostly Indica (80% Indica, 20% Sativa) strain, that dates to the late 1970's.
A large producer under optimum conditions.
A dense and stout plant with red, purple and finally blue hues, that usually cure to a lavender blue.
The finished product has a very fruity aroma and taste of blueberry.
It produces a notable and pleasantly euphoric high of the highest quality and is very long lasting.
Medium to large calyxes.
THC = 19.5%, CBD < 0.1%, S/T = 5.3%
Blueberry has a long shelf life so it stores well over a long period.
Customer Grow Report of Blueberry:
The buds glistened like diamonds in the light produced by the 1000 watt HPS, and in the end had great bad appeal. I now know that stickiness and potency have nothing to do with each another as this plant knocked us out with a heavy couch-lock stone. After cutting and curing it seems the plants got stickier and now I would say is average in resin production, but only after cutting and drying. Taste is very smooth and sweet. I wouldn't say it tastes like blueberries but is definitely very fruity. I was told the blueberry taste comes with age, but it seems it never stays around long enough for me to find out. Over all I would say this is the best plant I have grown to date. It has a great smooth taste that makes you come back for more. It is a little on the tricky side to grow due to the sensitivity to nutrients and its urge to attract mites. No mold problems noted, although my humidity never goes above 60%. As I stated it grows nice cola's and doesn't bush out too much so that many plants can be crammed under one light. I could have put many more under mine. I think if grown properly it would be a great producer and supply an extremely quick turn around. I will definitely grow this strain again, but with some other bigger producers. I think the Blueberry is my personal favorite due to its couch-lock effects, non-paranoia type buzz and superb taste. It will always find room to have at least one growing for personal. I would hate very much to loose this strain.
Price: 10 seeds for $125.00

Flo

Flowering: 55-60 days
Height: 1 meter

Flo is a Sativa - Indica cross (60% Sativa/ 40% Indica) with very Sativa phenotypic characteristics.
It matures very early.
The large, tight, spear-shaped buds are made up of small, densely packed purple calyxes.
The plants are taller and likely to branch out.
Indoors; the buds are fully mature by the end of their sixth week.
Outdoors; the plant is a super producer when multi-harvested over a period of time.
The first buds are ripe around the third week of September.
About every ten days after that, new buds form and can be harvested through the end of November, if the plant can be kept alive that long.
Therefore, Flo is ideal for greenhouse production.
The motivational high produced by Flo is quite unique, the flavor is like Nepalese Temple Hash.
A most pleasant and enjoyable experience.
Rated #1 strain at Cannabis Cup '96 by Cannabis Canada Magazine.
Bred by the developer of Blueberry and Blue Velvet.

Price: 10 seeds for $95.00

Daily Update

Today is water change day for the middle cab so my nutes are all mixed and are aerating. OMG I'm at full strength nutes and had to use a glass 1 cup measuring cup to measure my nutes! Ouch! I gotta go buy another bottle of Boost. Here's a couple of quick shots of the cab from a few minutes ago. I'll take detailed pics during the water change so hopefully I'll get those up for an afternoon update. I haven't peeked in on the roots in a couple of days so I'm hoping for some surprises this afternoon!

For whatever reason, my wife just hates Walmart (she's a huge Target fan). Saturday, my wife was sorting through her junk drawer and came across a couple Walmart gift cards, $50, and asked me if I could use these! I know better than to act too excited so I said "Uh, I think so. I'll take them just in case." Yesterday another quick trip to Walmart for 5 more drink coolers. :bigjoint: I now have 14 total, 4 per cab and 2 spares for water changes. I'm going to run out to Ace Hardware to pick up some more PVC fittings and I'll be set on water tanks!! I'll also take a trip to the Hydro store for more spigots, nutes and 4 more air stones. I now have all the hydro components to run all three cabinets.

:peace:

Evening Update

Water change complete. A couple of the tanks were down by 2 liters so it looks like some of my girls have been drinking. :) After two days of not checking, water temps were 65.7, pH 5.9, ppm 1800 so this says the girls were eating and drinking at a constant rate. Just Perfect! Let's hope this keeps up.

Went to the hydro store this afternoon. It's crazy what the difference in price from 1L of nutes to 4L, $22 vs $41! I asked if they had a 4L bottle in stock and they didn't. Then the guy said "Wait let me see what I can do." He said how about we split the difference and I give you the four 1L bottles for $51. Then I asked him if I also get the "20% off all items" discount that was going on at the store. He looked at me and said "You're Good." $41 for four 1L bottles. I'll be going back to this store for sure! :)

Here's some pics of BD and SOG #1. I forgot to take pics of SOG #2 and #3 and now I'm in no condition to go open thing up again. bongsmilie :eyesmoke: :eyesmoke: BD finally has a new root coming down. Let's see what happens!
