Veg lights light time

There is so much debate about more than 18h of light during veg stage because it does not do much for the plant? i thought the idea was that indoor you can control the variables (such as light time) 24h light would surely be the best because it sucks in more light energy? i have 2 x 110w vegging lights 2 different strains in this grow, i turn off the light for an hour every 5 days or so just so it gets a nice hour sleep :P, does anyone have facts backed up with proof saying which is best please because £1-2 more on an energy bill inst damaging me

I'm a recent convert to the 18/6 belief. I have seen a huge jump in growth since gradually switching from 24 hours of light to 18/6. The girls seem to grow more during the dark period. It's up to you but I'm glad I switched. :weed:

Agreed.
I noticed a difference between 24/0 my first 2 weeks, and 18/6 the second 2 weeks, BUT.......
That may have just been how the plant would have grown anyways.
To be sure for yourself, you would have to do a side by side experiment with 2 identical plants.

I read that dark periods promote better growth, and imo since ive switched from 24, to 20/4, mine have a little better growth and look alot happier when I turn the lights on

Its debatable.
Plants seem to grow perfectly on 24-0 and 18-6, All up to the grower. Their is no hard evidence that proves the plants DO require darkness in the veg stage. So Far 24-0 during veg has worked perfectly for me, but whats the fun in growing ganja, if you cant add you're own schemes to the trade.

It could have also been that the older your plants get the faster they tend to grow. Notice how when it's a seedling it takes like a week for the first set to fully grow in, then the second set grows a little bit faster, so on and so forth. Cannabis particularly doesn't NEED darkness to grow, but it NEEDS darkness to flower. The dark period needs to be the same or longer than the light as it is a short-day plant.

Cannabis is a C3 plant, which do not require rest periods for vegetative growth. Not all plants are created equal, common misconception around here.
