veg to flowering

so im about to change over to the flowering stage. I just changed 2 of my bulbs to 2700K 42W bulbs. I plan to change 1 more bulb to a 3000k 23W bulb and leave the 5000K 23W bulb. I thought I was reading a bunch of threads earlier about having 36 hours of darkness between the veg and flowering stages, but I cant find them now. Would it really be better to put them in the dark for 36 hours as opposed to shaving a 1/2 hour of light off every day til im at 12/12?would it be ok to do like 30 hours? The current light schedule is on 12:22am-6:15ish pm. I want the 12-12 to be 12a to 12p. I was thinking i would let it shut off like normal, skip a light period, go through the dark period, then turn it on again at midnight like normal but only run it for 12 hours. does this sound right or might that like shock the plant or something.

have you got a timer?
when i vegg i go 24/0 till 12/12. then i do 7am to 7pm so nobody sees my lights, they are harder to tell there on in daylight.

Dude go 36 in the dark, it works! check my journal its proof- 4 preflowers emerged just like that! when the lights were on 4 out of 11 were females and the next day a 5th joined so i will stick with it- and i would like more ppl like yourself to test it out and see if we can get a consensus...

ya i have a timer. you can see the lights in the day or night since i don't do much to cover them up, plus there is less of a chance of someone walking in my room that doesn't know im growing at night

Also check this thread- i attached a ton of links and info to it https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growi...tml#post887625
I think thats the thread I was reading, thx.

so it seems my options are 30 hours, 54 hours, or cut the normal light time short and do 36 hours. I think im gonna kill the lights at noon tomorrow and elave them out for 36 horus

sweet- did u examine them up close for sex?

I saw signs of sex on 4 plants immediatley and 1 week later (where i am at now in my grow) i have a total of 7 girls out of 11 and 2 unconfirmed... only 2 males in my batch of bagseed so far! Check my journal

Plants look great man very lush and thick... they prly have sex on em... mine did

I didnt really look too much for sex, I took a couple quick glances looking for something but didnt really look into it since i wanted to finish training it before the dark cycle. I'll look at it tomorrow and try to get some good close up pictures

you should definitely look, because as soon as i turned on my lights after the 36 4 plants showed sex, and its only been a week (currently) and i have 9 plants confirmed sexed after only a week, thats pretty crazy fast- I think it may have been the 36- so i wanna know if it did that for you...

and i am curious to see what your confirmation ratio is, i ended up with 7 out of 11 confirmed females and 2 confirmed males- with 2 more still yet to show... But I am pleased already with 7 females!

I didnt do 36 hours of darkness but its really personal preference.

as for the light schedule. its best to set your schedule to a regular night hour schedule. this way no light has a chance of seeping in. if you have daylight try putting a space blanket over the cracks. lets no light in at night and they are dirt cheap.

I do my 12/12 from 9pm-9am. just about when it gets dark and just a little after the sun comes up! :D if you do it from noon you'll have to control the light going in much more and if youre up you wont have the chance to garden! :)

im growing in a closet thats MOSTLY lightproof.

a tiny bit of light might be able to get in. Its in the corner of my room so the sun doesn't hit it and it would only get the ambient light of my room if anything. Does it need to be totally 100% dark in there? or only as dark as it would be in nature? One of these days I' m going to reline it with mylar and try to get rid of all the light leaks.

i was once told if you can see your hand in front of your face thats too much- and that was on a research site.. not sure which one or i'd post the link- this was back when i was at that stage- but it looks like you shouldnt worry to much about if for right now...

looks like a nice little cab set up- get a pic with the door open too.. i'd be curious...

and no one that comes over or hangs out with you knows about it right- cuz shit will get jacked like that- idk who your friends are- fiends not friends will go mans last ends to get their fills

Only my best friend has seen it. No one hangs out in my room except me.

Size - 14"x14"x31" (about 3.5 cubic feet)
120mm 56CFM comp fans for intake/exhaust
80mm comp fan for air circulation, adjustable height

Pictured-
2x 6500K 23w
2x 5000K 23W

Currently-
2x 2700K 42W
1x 3000K 23W
1x 5000K 23W

I moved the water bottles out and put the small plant in the back on top of a monster can instead of a dutch masters so I have more room for the big plant. I lined the walls with wrapping paper so they would be white and easy to change to mylar. I ordered a big sheet of mylar on ebay, but its been almost a month and it isnt here yet, so I'm gonna check out a hydro store my friend told me about.

i've kinda been using this thread as a grow journal https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/73280-hows-look-first-grow-cfl.html

well...I THINK its female. I THINK I can see some TINY white hairs. I ordered a 30x magnifier off ebay last week so hopefully that will be here soon so I can verify what I see. I tried taking some close up pictures and failed horribly. Flowering started 4 days ago so by the end of 1 week I SHOULD be able to confirm the sex

not always, it can take up too two weeks to sex your plants- thats not crazy. And sexing them early isnt that important for the growth of the plant, more for your nerves and patience. Even if their males- they wont release any pollen until there clearly visible with the naked eye, so getting a magnifier and sexing them when their still children is good- so that you know how many females you have and relax... but it isnt important to the growth of the plants... Magnifiers are good for checking the trics when you are getting close to harvest- about 7 weeks from where you are now...
