also why would you waste your energy running plants 24 hrs lights on personally the plant needs darkness ( VERY important )
plants do need rest
Actually, there are classifications of plant types that reflect this, with a classification (to which marijuana belongs) for plants that DO NOT require a dark period (I think the classification is C3 or C5, but don't quote me on that, look it up yourself
). There are plenty of papers out there about this, though they are typically in rather scientific horticulturese.
I run 24/0 for most of my veg, cutting back to 18/6 when I need to slow growth (I run perpetual so timing on veg is always a little off based on harvests in the flower room). When I really need to slow growth I cut back to 16/8. This does work quite well for me to slow them. I also inspect roots at every transplant and after harvests I bust it all up and inspect, and I have seen absolutely no evidence of decreased root growth, in fact I have seen the opposite, more root growth with more 24/0 time.
Something I have suspected in the past is that people might see decreased results with 24/0 because they underestimate how needy plants are on 24/0 schedules. I have noticed that beefy vents are needed because there is no dark time oxygen consumption and co2 production. They can take up to twice as many nutrients (though you still have to acclimate them properly). They can take twice as much water. They seem to benefit from a 6+ hour period of decreased temps (around 10f lower).
anyway, hope this info helps
