Vegetative Growth/ Increasing Yield

Alrite...so I've done a lot of research and I get a lot of varying numbers as to how many ounces each plant can produce. I've learned that the variation is largely based upon the grower. I've seen people only get 2-4 ounces per plant, but I watched Jorge Cervantes Grow DVD and he showed gardens where people were getting like a pound per plant. My question is How can I get a pound per plant?

My hypothesis is that if I allow the plants to grow longer in the vegetative stage when I go to induce flowering the plants will be taller and overall larger. From there I'm thinking this will produce more bud because the plant itself is larger. From my research people only keep their plants in vegetative growth for 3months or from the seedling stage they start the light cycle at 24/0 and then reduce an hour of light every week; after 12 weeks the light cycle is perfect for flowering at 12/12. So maybe if I keep the plants in a vegetative states for over 3months they will produce more. Are there any disadvantages to prolonging the vegetative stage?

No disadvantages to prolonging veg state. Just make sure she has enough soil for roots. 5-6 gallons for an 8 week indica.

You also gotta have enough lumens goin on, to exploit that extra veg time, and enough light to make all that extra vegetation produce. you can veg a plant with one 23w cfl for a year, and flower it with a 23w cfl, and all your gonna get is 14 grams. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

but will this increase the yield of my plants?? Assuming that all conditions are perfect. There's no use in increasing vegetative growth if it is not beneficial.....this is the question????

There is a disadvantage if you fuck it up after growing it for 4+ months, or fuck it up during flowering after growing it for x months.

All your eggs in one basket.. I got stuck out of town unplanned in a storm that cancelled all flights for a few days and my shit was stunted after 4 months of growing vigorously. Then it took forever to finally flower, way longer than normal. Spent more than half a year for meh.
