Vegging under HPS after transplant, okay?

Hey,

A newbie question. I am growing my plants in 5" pots into the end of their second week under a 400 watt MH. I would be transplanting them into 3 gallons after 10 days and continue vegging them under 600 watts HPS for another 4 days till I put them into flowering.(Since I dont have more MH to cover all the pots.) This will help them recover from transplant shock before 12/12.
My question is, is it alright to veg them under HPS at last 4 days of vegging especially after a transplant. Would the HPS help, worsen the transplant shock. Or should I buy more MH lights and ballasts for just the last 4 days of my vegging. I know it is okay to switch between MH and HPS during veg, but is it okay to switch after a transplant for the last four days? Any advice greatly appreciated.

just raise the light to reduce intensity for about a day. try to transplant right before lights out so they have all night to recover.

doesn't matter about hps,mh, cfl if it's too intense after transplant you shock them and growth temporarily suffers. i just transplanted 12x 2 week olds and they never skipped a beat. i raised my 400w hps to 4 feet away for a day.

If you transplant correctly, it should cause little to no stress at all. I transplant mine during light hours and continue as normal.

Sure. Sometimes in the summer when it gets pretty warm I will switch to a HPS set-up in my veg room. HPS runs a lot cooler than MH bulbs of the same wattage so I make the switch to cool the room down. I've noticed they tend to get tall and scrawny unless you make sure to get them as close to the light you can. Tallness and stretching are a factor of not being close enough to your light source.
